CENTER Announces 13th Annual Review Santa Fe

CENTER has announced the 13th Annual Review Santa Fe, a juried portfolio review event and conference for photographers. Every year, 100 photographers travel from all over the world for this internationally-renowned event where photographers meet with top publishers, editors, curators, gallerists and others. Many now well-recognised photographers launched their careers at Review Santa Fe. Participants will arrive from 24 U.S. states and 9 countries, including Spain, Japan, Denmark, Mexico, and Singapore. Additionally, over 40 leading photo professionals will serve as reviewers at the event to seek out new talent. There are several events free and open to the public surrounding Review Santa Fe including a portfolio review, exhibits and tours as well as a panel dsicussion on photography and its cultural impact. REVIEW SANTA FE: INTERNATIONAL PHOTO EXHIBITS, SEMINAR, & PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

CENTER is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Review Santa Fe, a juried portfolio review
conference in support of gifted and committed photographers. Every year, 100
photographers travel from all over the world for this internationally-renowned event where
photographers meet with top publishers, editors, curators, gallerists and others.
Many now well-recognized photographers launched their careers at Review Santa Fe.
Participants will arrive from 24 U.S. states and 9 countries, including Spain, Japan, Denmark,
Mexico, and Singapore. Additionally, over 40 leading photo professionals will serve as
reviewers at the event to seek out new talent, including representatives from NPR, TIME
Magazine, National Geographic, the Whitney Museum, J. Paul Getty Museum, San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art and many more.
This is the first year that CENTER has received an Art Works Grant from the National
Endowment for the Arts in support of this program. Art Works grants support the creation of
art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and
excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the
arts.

Review Santa Fe offers several educational events – all free and open to the public. Hosted
on the historic and beautiful IHM Retreat CENTER campus (50 Mt. Carmel Road, Santa Fe,
NM, 87505), these events include:
PORTFOLIO VIEWING
FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 6–8pm, free and open to the public
All 100 photographers open their portfolios to the public in a unique expo/exhibition-style
format for a lively evening of face-to-face interactions with the artists. The Portfolio Viewing
provides collectors and photo lovers with a rare opportunity to connect with some of the
best photographers from around the globe covering today’s important social,
environmental, political and aesthetic issues.
EXHIBITS & TOURS *
FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 6–8PM & SATURDAY 8, 3-5PM, free and open to the public
The public is invited to come the historic property and see the exhibitions hosted in tandem
with Review Santa Fe featuring work from the 2013 Choice Award winners and Review Santa
Fe alumni. Concurrent is the CENTER International Grant Winners exhibit at the Center for
Contemporary Arts (CCA) from May 24 – June 30, 2013.
SEMINAR: CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHIC PRACTICE *
SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 10:30–12:30PM, free and open to the public
Topics include How to Sustain a Long Career and New Methods for Engaging Audiences.
Distinguished guest and Guggenheim Fwllo, John Gossage, will present his work followed by
a panel discussion with NPR Senior Multimedia Producer, Keith Jenkins; Daylight Magazine &
Books Director Michael Itkoff; and others.
