Shane Hurlbut and Vincent Laforet will Address the Two-Day Conference Spotlighting the Collision of Still and Motion Photography August 29th and 30th in Los Angeles

(July 21, 2009; Santa Monica, CA)—The Collision Conference, the first conference to focus on hybrid video/DSLR photography and cinematography, is proud to announce Shane Hurlbut and Vincent Laforet as keynote speakers for the two-day conference taking place August 29th and 30th at the Los Angeles Film School, located at 6363 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, CA. Conference passes are available for purchase from $75 - $350 at http://www.ImageMechanicsExpo.com/.

Shane Hurlbut (http://www.shanehurlbut.com) is an accomplished Director of Photography on major motion pictures and has used hybrid DSLRs (cameras that shoot stills and HD video) to shoot footage on films including “Terminator Salvation,” “Cheech and Chong: Light Up America,” and his current project, “I Am That Man” for Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures. His keynote speech, “Catch The Wave: How Still Photography Changes The Way We Make Movies,” will provide a stimulating, interactive discussion about the Canon 5D Mark II camera and how it changes the way movies are created.

“The Canon 5D Mark II is revolutionary because it is the first camera in the HD world to capture the characteristics of film in such a small package. Its compact size and light weight allow us to place the camera where we’ve not been able to before, and to move it in new and unique ways, all the while providing an unparalleled depth of field,” says Hurlbut.

Vincent Laforet is a gifted photographer and speaker who was one of the first photographers to realize the potential of using hybrid DSLRs to shoot cinema style imagery. His short film, “Reverie,” (http://www.vincentlaforet.com/), has generated a lot of buzz for DSLR filmmaking and hybrid photography.

In addition to the keynote speakers, Alexx Henry (http://www.alexxhenry.com/) will share his experiences shooting “Living Posters” with the RED ONE and the Canon 5D Mark II; Frank Rohmer (http://frankrohmer.com/) will present an editing workflow for hybrid DSLR cameras; Lou Lesko (http://loulesko.com/) will lead a panel of clients and end users on combining motion and stills; and Michael Britt (http://www.imagemechanicsexpo.com/speakers/19-michael-britt) will give an overview of how to incorporate hybrid photography into still or motion jobs.
