Award-winning photographer Marci Sandler is to lead “Creating Photographic Art,” a two-day photography workshop sponsored by Homeland Photographic Gallery, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. The workshop will teach participants to create high-quality, fantasy and exotic images. Workshop courses will be held on 19 and 20 July from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Select Temp Staffing, and will include lunch. An optional half-day trip and location shoot is available to participants on 21 July. Photographers will have an opportunity to venture on a four-wheel drive trip to Tide Pools with Sandler where they will shoot with a model in an exotic tropical location and create images to further enhance their portfolios. Multiple Scholarships to Be Awarded to St. Croix Students with an Interest in Photography
ST. CROIX, V.I. (May 27, 2010) – This summer, Homeland Collections Portrait Gallery (www.homelandcollections.com) welcomes award-winning photographer, Marci Sandler to lead “Creating Photographic Art,” a dynamic two-day photography workshop. The workshop will teach participants to create high-quality, fantasy and exotic images, and include an optional photo shoot on location at Tide Pools. Made possible by grants from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, one student from each St. Croix island high school with a passion for or interest in photography will receive a scholarship to attend.
“This workshop is an opportunity for photographers to fine tune their technique, enhance their style and portfolio, and learn from one of the most talented and successful portrait photographers in the U.S.,” said Dr. Denise Bennerson, photographer, educator and owner of Homeland Collections Portrait Gallery. “It’s also a unique opportunity for us to mold budding photographers who are just learning the craft. We hope that our scholarships will benefit deserving students who have a passion for photography and fine arts.”
“Creating Photographic Art,” facilitated by Marci Sandler will teach participants to create photographic art and fantasy images in the studio, on location and through the use of photo editing software. Participants will receive instruction in Adobe Photoshop techniques and learn how to create high-end designer albums. The workshop is ideal for students, hobbyists and professional photographers who want to refine their craft and get industry insider tips on how to create more stunning imagery.
An opening reception for the “Creating Photographic Art” workshop will take place at Homeland Collections Portrait Galley on July 18 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and include a meet and greet with Marci Sandler. Sandler’s (www.marciseniors.com) photography career has spanned more than 20 years. As the owner of Marci’s Distinctive Photography based in Ocala, Fla., she’s earned a reputation for pushing the limit on everyday portraits, trading classic portrait styles for imaginative, explosive and award-winning images that leave an indelible impression in the minds of viewers.
