D-Link First to Introduce HD Wireless Media Server With 100GB Built-in Storage and 5-in-1 Media Card Reader - Newest Addition to MediaLounge Family Lets Users Store, Share, Play Back Photos, Music and HD Videos Over Home Network

LAS VEGAS, NV, January 4, 2006 - D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, today became the first company to offer a streaming wireless high-definition media player/server with 100GB of built-in storage and a 5-in-1 media card reader.

The newest addition to D-Link’s popular MediaLounge family of products is the D-Link Wireless HD Media Server (DSM-5210R). It allows users to conveniently store, share and play back photos, music and high definition videos over a home network. Its full capabilities will be on display throughout CES 2006 in Booth 35832, South Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center.

“With 100 gigabytes of storage and simple, plug-and-play wireless network set-up, the D-Link Wireless HD Media Server allows families and workers to finally enjoy the promise of seamlessly shared multi-media—with high-definition video,” said Steven Joe, president and CEO for D-Link. “Our new MediaLounge family addition is another example of how D-Link strives to provide exceptional value-add for our customers in the digital home.”

The Wireless HD Media Server stores content that can be streamed to other MediaLounge devices in the home network. It features integrated storage, so users can either stream content from another computer, a network storage device or access it directly from the internal 100GB hard drive.

The device supports all the popular media formats, including high-definition video in either Windows Media(R) Video 9 or MPEG-2 & 4 format up to 1080i resolution. It also supports other media formats like XviD video and Ogg Vorbis audio.

In addition to featuring Microsoft’s Windows Media(R) Connect, which allows users to access their entire library of content protected by Windows Media Digital Rights Management (WMDRM), the newest D-Link MediaLounge product will carry Microsoft’s PlaysForSure logo certification.

With a simplified remote control, users can access media from across the local network or order Internet songs and media from a variety of vendors, including Rhapsody, [email protected], Napster, Live365.com, MyKidsTunes.com, and TotalVid. The easy-to-use interface has picture-in-picture so users can browse on-screen menus while watching videos.

The D-Link Wireless HD Media Server features a sleek 17-inch black aluminum frame with a smoked mirror front panel. At just 1.5 inches high, it looks right at home with other high-end home entertainment systems.

A 5-in-1 memory card reader and USB port on the front panel enable easy access to music, photos and videos stored on removable media. A one-touch copy feature transfers the contents of removable media directly to the internal storage. The USB port can also be used to attach a USB hard drive, expanding the available storage that can then be streamed to other MediaLounge devices on the network.

The Wireless HD Media Server features a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) for a single, pure digital audio and video connection for use with compatible high-definition televisions. Users can enjoy videos in up to 1080i resolution. Other video connectors include component, S-video and composite output, ensuring compatibility with virtually all televisions. The Wireless HD Media Server (DSM-5210R) also supports coax and optical digital audio output for delivering high fidelity digital surround sound.

Setting up the DSM-5210R is simple, and wireless security settings are configured easily with Windows(R) Connect Now support. Configuring the wireless settings is as simple as running a Wireless Network Setup Wizard and transferring the wireless settings to the DSM-5210R using a USB flash drive.
