Digimarc Enhances Protection of Digital Photographs and Images

MyPictureMarc 2005 raises the standard of security for creative professionals’ online image collections

Beaverton, Ore. – April 19, 2005 – Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC) today announced the launch of Digimarc® MyPictureMarc™ 2005, bringing photographers and creative professionals new layers of security to protect their digital image collections.

Digimarc MyPictureMarc 2005 delivers new digital watermarking technology, enhanced digital rights management tracking, online image backup and free visual watermarking. The new MyPictureMarc 2005 plug-in is immediately available for download at www.digimarc.com/mypicturemarc, supporting all current Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) Photoshop 7 and higher products, as well as Photoshop Elements 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

“Adobe is very excited to see the added value that Digimarc is delivering with its MyPictureMarc 2005 plug-in release,” said Kevin Connor, director, product management for professional digital imaging, Adobe Systems. “The product’s new features such as more robust covert watermarking, new visual watermarking capabilities and online image storage reinforce Digimarc’s expertise in providing image protection to our joint customers and nicely complement our Photoshop CS2 offering.”

Digital imaging has migrated from pre-press to a mainstay of the imaging workflow: from capture, to the digital darkroom, distribution collaboration and publication. To be effective in this paradigm creative professionals need professional-grade protection throughout the process for their digital images. Building on a decade of copyright protection experience, MyPictureMarc 2005 brings together new layers of security technology to help protect digital image portfolios. New features include:

  * Core digital watermarking innovations that enable image owners to weave persistent copyright identification into photos with even less visible impact and stronger durability than ever before.
  * Linking from watermarked images to the owner’s collection, facilitating licensing.
  * An online photo backup and sharing service that directly connects to the user’s desktop.
  * Free visual watermarking capabilities, providing a first line of protection with an overt stamp of ownership that complements Digimarc’s digital watermarking layer of image protection.

“As the professional imaging market continues its rapid evolution, creative professionals are demanding professional-grade digital asset and rights protection solutions,” said Nicole Elovitz, product manager, Digimarc. “MyPictureMarc 2005 responds to these needs with innovative features offering complete lifecycle protection, backed by a community portal for ongoing delivery of tools, tips and advice.”

Since launching its digital watermarking products to integrate and ship within Adobe Photoshop in 1996, Digimarc has become known for image copyright protection, tending to the two factors that drive a creative professional’s business: attribution and compensation. Today, thousands of photographers and creative professionals use MyPictureMarc in millions of images to communicate copyrights and track use of their images on the public Internet.

Concurrently, Digimarc has launched www.digimarc.com/mypicturemarc dedicated to serve the MyPictureMarc user community. Through the site, users can learn about MyPictureMarc’s features, subscribe to the service and access Digimarc’s toolbox of image protection tips, tricks and utilities.
