Dreamstime today released Dreamstime Companion, a new free iPhone and Android mobile app that enables photographers to upload their own images directly from their smartphones. “The arrival of the Dreamstime Companion mobile app is not so much a new direction for our company, but one that we hope will continue to inspire the ever-growing smartphone photography community, as well as the changing needs of today’s consumers,” said Serban Enache, the company’s CEO and co-founder. “The size of our community is unparalleled in the industry, and provides mobile photographers with a unique and potentially lucrative opportunity." Users can sell their images as editorial content (with logos and faces visible) or as commercial content, which means no logos or people in the image unless they have signed a model release. The app provides users with real-time stats, sales reports, and up-to-date revenue details.

Dreamstime Opens Up World’s Largest Designer Community to Mobile Photographers

Launches Dreamstime Companion iOS and Android App - Uploaded Mobile Photos can be Purchased by Designer Community of over 8 Million Users

NASHVILLE, TN – 15th July 2014 – Dreamstime, a distinguished leader in stock photography, today announced the release of Dreamstime Companion (http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-mobile-app), a new free iPhone and Android mobile app that enables photographers to upload their own images directly from their smartphones. The uploaded images can be purchased by more than eight million Dreamstime users, the largest designer database in the stock photography industry. More than 2,500 new photographers join Dreamstime every month, and the site now has more than 15 million monthly unique visitors.

With the launch of Dreamstime Companion, the team hopes to inspire both professional and non-professional photographers to explore and source photos that have a more updated, modern and ‘in the moment’ look. Mobile app users are encouraged to upload original images that have a unique concept and are authentic, similar to the company’s website image submission requirements.

“The arrival of the Dreamstime Companion mobile app is not so much a new direction for our company, but one that we hope will continue to inspire the ever-growing smartphone photography community, as well as the changing needs of today’s consumers,” said Serban Enache, the company’s CEO and co-founder. “The size of our community is unparalleled in the industry, and provides mobile photographers with a unique and potentially lucrative opportunity.”

Dreamstime protects its more than 187,000 contributors’ personal information and data, and reviews all images to assure that they meet all legal and commercial requirements. “While the mobile app provides plenty of rich, powerful data, it’s still quite simple and extremely easy to use,” Enache noted. “Users can upload 3MP and higher images directly from their smartphones, without significant knowledge of the stock photography market. We kept the process as simple as possible, so anyone can participate and share their own photographic skill with an enormous audience.”

“We also encourage users to submit images from Instagram, Pixlr and other popular photo apps folders, enabling them to discover powerful visual effects,” said Enache.

Users can sell their images as editorial content (with logos and faces visible) or as commercial content, which means no logos or people in the image unless they have signed a model release. The app provides users with real-time stats, sales reports, and up-to-date revenue details.

“The launch of Dreamstime Companion is an important milestone for our stock photography business because it shows our support of the increasingly popular world of ‘phonography,’” Enache added. “With this mobile app, Dreamstime will be able to offer an even greater variety of images on a much greater, global scale.”

Professional stock photographer Paul Topp, who is known for his amazing images of waves, surfs and unique travel shots said, “Dreamstime is one of the most contributor-friendly stock agencies around, paying high commissions and always considering contributors a priority in their overall decision making. Dreamstime Companion will make selling photos easier than ever for any photographer ‘on-the-go.’ I’m confident that Dreamstime will continue to rank as one of the most reputable, searched stock photo websites.”

The mobile app also will enable professional stock photographers to submit images, including photos created directly from their smartphones, as well as from their DSLR cameras via their phone. Photographers can earn from 20 pence per download to hundreds of pounds by offering their photos through Dreamstime Companion: an average income can be up to hundreds of pounds monthly.

The Dreamstime Companion mobile app is available for download free from both the iTunes store and in the Google Play store. For more information, visit http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-mobile-app
