Earth’s Beauty Tours Press Release

Earth’s Beauty Tours proudly announce that we have now opened a photographic course in Torridon, Wester Ross. An amazing location in the highlands of Scotland.

The course will take place from 5th - 10th of December 2010 and the tour leader will be the Greek born and Scotland based pro photographer Dimitri Vasiliou. Dimitri’s knowledge of the area will guarantee you having a superb holiday, a great experience and a large collection of images for your portfolio.

The Torridon area of the Western Highlands is situated on the west coast of Scotland.

The area is well known to photographers and countless visitors from around the world, for what is considered to be some of the finest scenery in Europe.

A 16,000-acre estate including some of Scotland’s finest mountain scenery, comprising Liathach  with its seven tops, Beinn Alligin and Beinn Eighe. The mountains, in addition to their scenic splendour, hold much of interest to geologists and naturalists.

Beinn Eighe with its white quartzite upper reaches and its surprisingly complex and extensive topography is in my books as the most magnificent in Torridon. Of course its beauty comes very close to its westerly neighbour, Liathach. The latter is of Torridonian sandstone some 750 million years old; the tops, of white quartzite some 150 million years younger.

Loch Maree contains five large wooded islands and over 25 smaller ones, many of which have their own lakelets. It is of international importance for its special wildlife and biodiversity. Loch Maree is a must for any Scottish visitor, it has everything that typifies the Scottish Highlands - history, grandeur, munros, scenery and wide open spaces.

And of course the view of Slioch on a frosty December morning, brings heaven down to earth. On the other side of the road from the Beinn Eighe ridge lies a delightful setting that includes lochs Clair and loch Coulin. With special permission from the estate owner, we will visit them both for sunrise splendour. The lochs are small and placid with excellent views of the surrounding hills and the Beinn Eighe ridge is never out of sight.

Redpoint itself comprises a small scattered settlement overlooking a broad beach of red sand backed by dunes. The name comes from the low promontory, Red Point, to the south. This marks a turn in the coastline which then heads south east into the mouth of Loch Torridon. Russell burn falls on the way to Applecross, is a favourite spot of mine and highly recommended a visit there.
To cut a long story sort, this 5 night staying in the area, will prove to be a real life  photographic experience.
