NEW EPSON STYLUS? PHOTO RX600 SCAN-PRINT-COPY DEVICE CREATES PHOTO CENTER FOR BOTH TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL IMAGES IN ANY HOME

EPSON Stylus Photo RX600 Not Only Scans, Prints and Copies Photos, but also Previews and Restores Old Slides, Transparencies and Traditional Photos into Brilliant Reprints

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Feb. 11, 2004 - Epson is launching its most advanced scan-print-copy device to date with the new EPSON Stylus Photo RX600.  This photographic all-in-one is designed to not only view, scan, copy and print photographs without a computer, but also restore old slides, negatives and traditional printed photographs.  The end results are true photographic quality prints using Epson?s superior six-color photo inks at resolutions as high as 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi.

The Stylus Photo RX600?s six-color printer uses variable-sized ink droplets as small as three picoliters to create intensely detailed images with natural and vibrant colors.  Users can produce BorderFree? images on a variety of traditional photo paper sizes such as 4?x 6?, 5?x 7?, 8?x 10?, letter size and even panoramic.  The printer also creates photos and text quickly, delivering a 4?x 6? color print in about 39 seconds and up to 17 pages per minute of black text documents.*

Memory Card Slots and Color LCD Viewing
In addition to high-speed color printing, the Stylus Photo RX600 features a wide selection of memory card slots designed to print images directly from today?s most popular digital cameras or from PictBridge- and USB Direct Print-enabled digital cameras.  A built-in 2.5-inch color display and easy-to-use control panel also enables users to view and select images, see scans of prints, slides and negatives as they happen, and even crop or resize photos.  Furthermore, a convenient proof sheet feature lets users choose the images they want to print directly from a memory card and specify the print size and paper type.  All of these functions and more can be done without turning on a PC.

Memory cards supported include CompactFlash? I and II, SD, Smart Media?, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, IBM Microdrive?, xD-Picture Card, Sony Memory Stick?, Memory Stick Pro, Sony MagicGate and Mini Secure Digital (using an optional adapter).  The Stylus Photo RX600 also makes it easier for users to take images with them by scanning photographs and saving them directly to a memory card.

In addition to card slots, a front USB port allows users to plug in an external CD-R or Zip drive to save images from a memory card directly to a disc, as well as print pictures directly from a picture CD.  Users can also connect an optional Bluetooth? Print Adapter from Epson (sold separately) for convenient wireless printing from a Bluetooth-enabled mobile camera phone, PDA or computer.

Scanning, Photo Restoration and PC-Free Color Copying
The Stylus Photo RX600 features a high-performance, full-function scanner along with a built-in transparency adapter for scanning 35mm slides and negatives, all without turning on a PC.  This 2,400 x 4,800 dpi, 48-bit color scanner includes exclusive EPSON Easy Photo Fix? color restoration software, which gives users an easy solution for restoring old slides, negatives or prints to their original brilliance with one touch of a button.  In addition, users can lay several photos on the scanner bed at one time and the Stylus Photo RX600 will identify each photo, restore the color and create individual prints.

The Stylus Photo RX600 also delivers fully automated scanning plus two advanced scanning modes for advanced custom control.  New EPSON Smart Panel? software enables users to quickly scan photos, text or graphics with extreme detail to the Internet, an e-mail software program, or a faxing software program.

This all-in-one also functions as a stand-alone color copier that enables users to produce high-resolution, borderless color photos or documents without a personal computer.  Furthermore, they can create 2-up and 4-up copies to conserve paper and use a ?repeat copy? mode to make multiple copies of a single image onto one sheet of paper, producing items such as business cards and wallet-size photos.  The Stylus Photo RX600 also simplifies the process for making poster-size enlargements using four, nine or 16 letter-size sheets that can be assembled by the user to create one extra-large image or creative mosaic.

Individual Ink Cartridges
The EPSON Stylus Photo RX600 includes six separate ?snap-in/snap-out? ink cartridges to maximize ink yield ? one black ink cartridge and five color ink cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta).  Since these individual color inks can be replaced at any time, efficiency is maximized, lowering the total cost of ownership.  Each cartridge also contains a chip that relays ink level information on the screen to the user via the printer driver, while self-sealing valves preserve the ink up to six months if it?s removed from the printer.  Therefore, partially depleted cartridges can be reinserted for later use.

The EPSON Stylus Photo RX600 works with both Windows and Macintosh platforms and uses USB 2.0 High Speed connectivity and includes a USB cable in the box.
