Epson Art Photo Award
The Epson art photo award is aimed at groups of students from universities, colleges and other educational establishments worldwide. Students are able to choose their own themes; the judges will be looking for the best, most innovative and most pioneering concepts related to the creative use of the photographic medium. In addition to a total of 37,500 euros (circa £25,000) in prize money, the Epson art photo award 2007/2008 gives winners the opportunity to exhibit at a special exhibition as part of ART COLOGNE 2008.

Epson targets young talent with the launch of the Epson art photo award 2007/2008
1st March 2007 - The Epson art photo award, now in its third year, has become one of the most prestigious contests for young talent in photographic arts. The competition is targeted at groups of students from universities, colleges and other educational establishments worldwide.
Each class or group of students, aged 18 or over, in full time educational courses in photography, art, design or media, supervised by a lecturer or teacher are invited to enter their best images and concepts. Students are able to choose their own themes; the judges will be looking for the best, most innovative and most pioneering concepts related to the creative use of the photographic medium.
In addition to a total of 37,500 euros (circa £25,000) in prize money, the Epson art photo award 2007/2008 gives winners the opportunity to exhibit at a special exhibition as part of ART COLOGNE 2008.
The Epson art photo award honours the best class or group for their overall achievements, the best individual artist from all groups and 25 additional artists from among the entire group submissions. The best class/group will receive 15,000 euros (circa £10,000), the best individual artist from all groups 10,000 euros (circa £6,750) and the 25 additional prize-winning artists from among the entire group submissions 500 euros (circa £300) each. In addition to the presentation of all the winning photos at ART COLOGNE from April 16 – 20, 2008, winning entries will be published in the Epson art photo award catalogue and online.

Previous winners of the award include Julian Faulhaber who has become one of the most successful “discoveries” of the last few years and now enjoys international recognition. More than 100 photo classes from 19 countries competed in Epson art photo award 2006 for top honours, with the class lead by Prof. Jörg Sasse from the University of Dusiburg-Essen’s faculty for art and design in the field of communication design winning the top award.
