Epson Searches for the European Capital of Sporting Memories

To celebrate the launch of its new Expression Premium photo printer range, Epson is asking amateur photographers to upload photos that capture a sporting memory from this year. “It can be absolutely anything, from holing a birdie putt on the 18th green at your local golf course or your children playing rugby in the park, to you celebrating your favourite football team’s victory in the pub with friends or in the stadium itself,” the company says. “As long as it depicts a memory of a sporting occasion from this year, Epson wants to see it.” The winner, whose photo will be judged to best capture a sporting memory from 2012, will be able to watch the Manchester United team train, dine in the city’s best restaurants and get a taste of the city’s night-life. The three-day trip will be rounded off by watching Manchester United’s stars take on Reading Football Club in March 2013. Entries close on 31 December 2012. Not that the competition is only open to people aged 21 or above on 1 January 2013 and resident in the UK. As always we suggest that you read the rules before entering your work.

Putting your sporting memories on the map
Epson searches for the European Capital of Sporting Memories
2012 has been one of the best ever years for sport in Europe. Athletics and football may have grabbed the headlines, but there have been a whole host of fantastic events, both large and small, taking place across the continent. But which European country, town or city has inspired the most sporting memories this year? Epson is on the hunt to find out.
To celebrate the launch of its new Expression Premium photo printer range, Epson is asking you to upload photos that capture a sporting memory from this year. It can be absolutely anything, from holing a birdie putt on the 18th green at your local golf course or your children playing rugby in the park, to you celebrating your favourite football team’s victory in the pub with friends or in the stadium itself. As long as it depicts a memory of a sporting occasion from this year, Epson wants to see it.
In fact, Epson is so keen to find out the location of Europe’s Capital of Sporting Memories that it is offering everyone that submits an image the chance to win a five-star weekend in Manchester, to experience the lifestyle of a professional football player and watch a football match at Old Trafford1 the way the stars would. All you have to do is upload your photos through a dedicated webpage, www.epson.co.uk/yearofsport, it’s a simple as that.
The lucky winner, whose photo will be judged to best capture a sporting memory from 2012, will be able to see Manchester United’s first team put through their paces by Sir Alex Ferguson during a ‘money can’t buy’ trip to watch the team train, dine in the city’s best restaurants and rub shoulders with celebrities in some of Manchester’s hottest night spots.
What’s more, the three-day trip will be rounded off by watching Manchester United’s stars take on Reading Football Club in March 2013. You will be treated like a VIP as you sit back, sip champagne and eat a fantastic meal and prepare to watch the likes of Wayne Rooney, David De Gea, Rio Ferdinand, Nani and Ryan Giggs showing off their skills in one of Europe’s most famous stadiums.
All of the photos uploaded will be tagged to an interactive map hosted on the Epson UK Facebook page. By visiting the unique application, you can zoom in and see images of sporting moments that have been captured throughout Europe this year.
Entries close on 31 December 2012 and Epson will announce Europe’s Capital of Sporting Memories on Monday, 7 January 2013. Will it be somewhere in the UK? Get you cameras out and make sure your favourite memories are uploaded so that we can beat the rest of Europe to the title this year.
You can upload photos via www.epson.co.uk/yearofsport and keep up-to-date by liking Epson UK’s Facebook page.
