The Epson Stylus Photo RX640 and Stylus Photo R340 win iF product design award 2006.

Epson has won an iF product design award 2006 for the Stylus Photo RX640 all-in-one photo printer (pictured) and the Stylus Photo R340 photo printer. The iF product design awards, established in 1954, now rank amongst the most prestigious design competitions in the world. An international panel of top design experts critically examine and select the winning products from a total of around 2,300 entries from over 30 different countries each year. This year it attracted products from 37 nations. The Stylus Photo RX640 and Stylus Photo R340 were awarded in the Computer category.

The Epson Stylus Photo RX640 is a sophisticated all-in-one photo centre featuring printing, copying and scanning functionality to meet the needs of photo enthusiasts who desire premium photo quality from both digital and analogue image sources. It has an array of features including CD-R print, PhotoFine colour LCD preview monitor and a 3200dpi scanner which makes printing from home enjoyable for all your digital imaging needs.

The feature-packed Epson Stylus Photo R340 combines style and quality to offer an exceptional six-colour photo printer that is easy to use. Designed for digital photo enthusiasts it has a large 2.4” LCD colour monitor to preview, select and crop images before you print. Photos can also be printed directly from memory cards or via PictBridge, USB Direct Print compatible digital cameras or from mobile phones via Bluetooth®.

The judging panels, which are made up from expert designers, architects, design specialists, magazine editors, buyers and distribution specialists judge the products against rigorous criteria. They look at the originality, ergonomics and quality of a product. It must be superior in the industry and society and also break new grounds for the future. It must be at the forefront of creating a new lifestyle for the next generation. Products must also be innovative, functional and user-friendly.
