CEWE Photobook, Europe’s largest wholesale photo-finisher, has launched a new continent-wide photography competition. The Europe is Beautiful competition invites photographers to upload their eye-catching shots to a dedicated microsite for the chance to win one of 500 prizes, including a two-week luxury cruise, trips to London and Paris, and more. The winning images will also be displayed at photokina, and incorporated into a commemorative CEWE Photobook presented to the winners. There are four categories including “my home and family”, “my town and everyday life”, “my country and its culture” and “moving towards Europe’s future”.

Amateur snappers and photography enthusiasts across the country are being encouraged to enter their best shots of Europe into a new continent-wide competition launched by Europe’s largest wholesale photo-finisher, CEWE PHOTOBOOK.  The Europe is Beautiful competition invites photographers to upload their eye-catching shots to a dedicated microsite, accessed through www.cewe-photobook.co.uk, or via facebook (www.facebook.com/CEWEPHOTOBOOK) for the chance to win one of 500 prizes, including a two-week luxury cruise, trips to London and Paris and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 Megazoom cameras. The winning images will also be displayed at the world’s leading photography trade show, photokina, and incorporated into a commemorative CEWE PHOTBOOK presented to the winners.

People who register on the site will get the opportunity to review and rate the uploaded images, before a panel of professional photographers judges the winners. The competition is split into four categories:

  * My home and family
  * My town and everyday life
  * My country and its culture
  * Moving towards Europe’s future

CEWE PHOTOBOOK’s eCommerce Manager, Andrew White said: “With CEWE PHOTOBOOK operating across 24 European countries, it made perfect sense to launch a Europe-wide photography competition. The Europe is Beautiful competition provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our ‘European-ness’ through our images; those one-off, diverse snapshots of people, places and atmospheres that capture the essence of our lives and futures in Europe.

“And the best thing is: it doesn’t matter whether you’re a serious amateur or an occasional ‘point-and-clicker’, anyone can enter. There’s no limit to people’s creativity and individuality, which makes it all the more exciting to see the world through other people’s eyes. We can’t wait to see the images that are sent in.”

The first prize is a two-week luxury cruise for two on a round trip from Amsterdam to Norway. The second and third prizes are trips to London and Paris. Seven Lumix DMC-FZ38 Megazoom cameras are also up for grabs. In total, there are 500 prizes worth approx. £30,000. Entries must be received by 31 July 2010.
