Exposure 2012 at the AOP Students Awards

The Association of Photographers (AOP) has announced the launch of Exposure 2012, a range of photography related events beginning on 17th May 2012. “Exposure will be taking place in a fantastic exhibition space nestled alongside the Students Awards exhibition and will run on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May, whilst the Students Awards will run from Wednesday 16th May through to Saturday 19th May,” the organisers say. Hosted by the Hoxton Gallery, 12-18 Hoxton Street, N1 6NG, Exposure 2012 will see some of the most talented speakers in the industry giving talks, demonstrations and workshops on topics as varied as fashion photography, using Hasselblad cameras, self-publishing and disseminating your work online. Exposure 2012 at the AOP Students Awards

Thursday 17th May - Friday 18th May 2012

After the huge success in 2011, Exposure launches again in 2012 ready for another exciting year of events, which begin at the AOP Students Awards on the 17th May 2012 at the Hoxton Gallery, 12-18 Hoxton Street, N1 6NG

Again this year, we are very lucky to have some of the most talented speakers in the industry giving talks, demonstrations and workshops in what will be an unmissable couple of days. From industry experts such as Harry Hardie, Rachel Stanley and Pedro Alvarez who will guide you through the minefield of starting a successful photography career, to getting hands-on with products from industry institution Hasselblad and fashion and magazine luminary Perry Curties lifting the veil on his fascinating career.

Exposure will be taking place in a fantastic exhibition space nestled alongside the Students Awards exhibition and will run on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May, whilst the Students Awards will run from Wednesday 16th May (private view) through to Saturday 19th May.

Thursday 17th May 2012

12pm–1.30pm - Insight into Fashion Photography with Perry Curties
Perry Curties will be conducting a talk on Fashion Photography, from his truly unique perspective that draws on his 15 years of photographic experience and his knowledge of the magazine industry as co-founder and editor of 125 Magazine.

1.30pm–2.30pm - Welcome to the world of Hasselblad
Hasselblad have come a long way over the last 150 years, and they have a lot to shout about. Their talk will be an insight into their magnificent products and how to achieve the best results with ease.

2.30pm–6pm - Hasselblad Workshop
Just a few steps from the Hoxton Gallery you will find the slick Hasselblad Studio, where the team will invite you to take part in a hands-on workshop in a fully working studio. This is an unrivalled opportunity to handle the Hasselblad products and pick the experts’ brains.
The event is on a drop in basis, just pick up your entry ticket from us at the Hoxton Gallery once you have checked out the Students Awards. Drinks will follow at the studios from 6pm onwards.

Friday 18th May 2012

10am–11.30am - How to disseminate your work online, on paper, on the wall and in person, Harry Hardie
Lecturer, curator and founder of “Here” a company that publishes, exhibits, educates and importantly supports photography, Harry Hardie will be sharing his photographic knowledge in a talk that will ensure you start your photography career in the best possible way.

12pm–1.30pm - A beginners Guide to Self-Publishing with Blurb, Rachel Stanley
Rachel Stanley will be demonstrating how to make professional bookstore-quality printed books and ebooks using Blurb’s bookmaking platform. This seminar will provide a quick and easy overview of the platform, bookmaking tools, and how to market and sell your book.

3pm–4.30pm - Careers Talk with Pedro Alvarez
Multi award winning and international photographer Pedro Alvarez shares his incredible knowledge in this unmissable careers talk.
