At the highest level, the best motocross riders compete in front of thousands for the top titles, but the off-road sport is far more accessible than most people realise and there are plenty of opportunities for new and seasoned photographers to get involved in the sport.
Archer is an award-winning photographer and a veteran of the World Motocross Championships, he has been working for racing teams, manufacturers and media for more than 30 years, travelling the world to work at international Motocross and Supercross events.
Ray Archer said: “The ‘accessibility’ of motocross is one of the sport’s major advantages, and one why I chose to start photographing it more than twenty years ago. It is demanding and gruelling sport but there are so many aspects to it, I see new image opportunities every time I go to the race track to work.
“In no other form of motor sport can the public get so close to the action, riders are literally jumping five, ten and fifteen meters high and almost within touching distance of race fans!”
