The best amongst the best…

Supported by Epson, the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year 2011 was presented in Brussels on November 26th 2011.

From more than 2000 images submitted to the competition our 7 judges worked intensely to find the best amongst the best within the categories of Professional European Wedding, Commercial, Portrait, Reportage, Landscape and Illustrative. There were even special categories for non-European Photographers and Student/Young Photographers.

Each category winner received a Golden Camera – and the best amongst the best became the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year 2011

The successful 2011 competition is the 3rd FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year from the Federation of European Professional Photographers that represents some 50.000 Photographers in 21 countries.

“Our partnership with Epson has been vital to the success of the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards. Epson joined with us as an act of faith and over three years we have gone from an idea to the most prestigious competition for professional photographers in Europe if not beyond. Anyone who has visited the competition on our Web Site will see the quality of photography that exists in Europe. We are very grateful to Epson for its continued support”, says FEP President Neil Warner, Master QEP

The Awards night was a very special evening for all, but mostly for the Spanish Photographer Oriol Jolonch, who was announced as the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year 2011, at a reception on November 26th 2011 in the prestigious Zoom Gallery of the Hotel Silken in Brussels.

The images in the exhibition were beautifully printed and presented by Epson.

“Spanish Photographer Oriol Jolonch’s images show a very fascinating surreal world that attracts attention and gives a joyful fantasy to the viewer.”, said Chairman of the Jury, Master QEP, Jørgen Brandt. ” The images demonstrate total control of the process of creation and sets a high benchmark in European Photography”.

“Each and every one of the Golden Camera winners represent excellence in their photographic specialities and gives inspiration to colleagues in all Europe and beyond” adds FEP President Neil Warner, Master QEP.

Bettina Scheerbarth from Hahnemühle adds, “All winners of the FEP Hahnemühle Portrait category shoot impressive faces which strikes a chord in every observer. The awarded photographers have the gift to tell a story in only one image. Hahnemühle steps in with genuine artist paper on which these stories come to life when the image is printed.”
