Ferrania claims clear lead in inkjet photo paper market with exclusive PerDura™ Technology - Photos printed on PermaPix™ Advanced Archival inkjet photo paper will last a lifetime

Orlando, Fla. — February 26, 2006 — Ferrania Technologies today is exhibiting its revolutionary DIMA and TIPA award-winning inkjet photo paper that offers consumers lifetime protection for their color photos.  PermaPix™ Advanced Archival inkjet photo paper from Ferrania features the company’s exclusive PerDura™ Technology, which protects color images from ozone, water and other environmental elements that typically degrade photo quality. Ferrania demonstrated the paper and exhibited packaging for the PermaPix™ brand at the Photo Marketing Association International (PMAI) Annual Conference in Orlando today, Booth #3364. The PermaPix™ Advanced Archival inkjet photo paper — which is available in 15-sheet 8.5” x 11” and 50-sheet 4” x 6” retail packages — allows consumers to print highly durable, archival photos with any ordinary inkjet printer, whether it uses dye-based or pigmented inks.  Ferrania, which began shipping the PermaPix™ paper last year, claims that the paper is a perfect solution for a widespread consumer need.

“Consumers are looking for a convenient and cost-effective way to print digital photos that last a lifetime.  Recent consumer surveys reveal that 75% of consumers are concerned about the longevity of the inkjet photos.  The alternatives currently available to them are neither affordable nor highly effective,” said Tom Zohn, Inkjet Director of Growth for Ferrania.  “PermaPix™ is instant drying, waterproof and truly archival.  And it’s typically less expensive than other national brands.  It’s a great solution.  Consumers can use ordinary inkjet printers and ordinary inks to create photos that last a lifetime.”

Zohn states “PermaPix™ paper is the only inkjet photo paper on the market that eliminates ozone fading and offers instant drying and waterproof protection.  While ordinary microporous inkjet papers can lose up to 70 percent of their color density within six months, this paper from Ferrania — which features the company’s patented PerDura™ Technology — provides a strong and lasting line of defense.

PerDura™ Technology blocks ozone and prevents gas fading by introducing a catalytic element to neutralize ozone effects.  By being catalytic it does not get used up or consumed, but rather regenerates itself.  This highly advanced and patent-protected technology requires no special skills, handling, printers or inks.  Most consumers can simply use their current printers to produce color prints that are not susceptible to ozone or water.

“Other so-called ‘archival’ papers are not waterproof and they do not dry instantly, which raises the issues of smudging and pages sticking together,” Zohn said.  “Other papers also don’t work well with pigmented inks, so consumers find themselves having to change printers or inkjet cartridges.”

In addition to its line of archival inkjet photo papers, Ferrania offers a wide selection of inkjet cartridges, ready-to-use 35mm cameras and a complete range of 35mm, APS and 110 color photographic films.  All color print film features the company’s new FG Plus technology, which ensures sharp detail in images and high performance in both contrast and color saturation.
Ferrania Technologies, a world leader in private label photographic and inkjet products, offers tailor-made programs for retailers globally.  All Ferrania Technologies’ products are available for marketing under the company’s Solaris™ and OptiJet™ brand names, or as private-label solutions. In addition, all product lines are supported by customized promotional programs to maximize product sales.
