Shiraz Software unveils Focus RIP Version 4

Innovative RIP specialist Shiraz Software has revealed a complete overhaul of its popular Focus printing software for photographers at this year’s Focus on Imaging, with new features designed to make producing high-value artwork using wide-format printers quick and simple. Developed exclusively with photographers and fine artists in mind, Focus V4 is a full-featured but easy-to-use print processing solution which allows users to take control of new income opportunities.

Now available as either Focus Solo for users with a single printer, or Focus Server for larger print environments, Version 4 boasts a redesigned user interface for streamlined workflow and simplified everyday tasks, powered by a faster, more efficient processing engine. This guarantees to photographers that their work is colour matched and that they can produce top-quality pieces which reflect the artistic value of their originals.

The Focus photopack has been updated with a host of new options for the creation of canvas wraps, opening up new revenue streams for photographers and artists. The extended Gallery Wrap function now gives users the ability to split images over any number of columns and rows, for the creation of custom canvas wrap displays. In addition, the gap between the frames and the type of frame used can be specified, allowing for maximum accuracy when printing gallery wraps. Two further frame options, Sample and Stretch, offer the ability to specify mirror preferences for wraps.

Perhaps the most noteworthy new feature is the Ruby Gallery Wrap, a unique layout function that makes for the simple creation of striking and popular diamond-shaped canvas formations. For improved accuracy in the printing and mounting of canvas wraps, users can also specify a safety margin for overlaps, to compensate for misalignment or stretching of the media.

The streamlined user interface is faster, more stable and more intuitive than ever, simplifying common tasks and workflows and making it easy for first-time users to get up and running in minutes. Underlying the clean user experience is the enhanced RIP engine, which allows for multiple print queues to be prepared for printing while you print other jobs, without compromising performance.

“Shiraz Focus has always been designed for the specific needs of photographers and fine artists,” says Ramin Shahbazi, Sales Director, Shiraz Software. “When thinking about developing this latest version, we listened to our users and found out what they really needed from their production software, and we’re confident that Focus V4 is a uniquely tailored solution for their very specialised applications. With the improvements to the speed and stability of the RIP engine, plus the enhanced support and product creation features, Focus V4 truly offers an unparalleled specialist RIP solution.”
