Fotki Celebrates Its 60,000,000th Photo and Brakes All Storage Limits on This Occasion: Free 30 MB from the Start and 120 MB Free Annually!

NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) October 3, 2005—Fotki. Inc., a company behind a popular online photo-sharing web portal, Fotki.com, has recently changed its policy with respect to standard free account users. Free account photo-storage space limit was considerably raised, and ability to keep online journals given to all Fotki users. After the global mid-September update of the site, Fotki keeps polishing newly introduced tools and adding new features.

As free members are a significant and very important part of Fotki’s fast growing community, these Fotki loyal users are given more abilities to better exploit Fotki potentialities. Fotki has tripled a standard photo storage space for free accounts. Now newcomers will start from 30 MB free space (against former 10 MB); and current free users will get 20 MB extra space. Moreover, all free members are given a chance to become more active by using an option of obtaining a 10-MB additional space every 30 days that totals to 120 MB annually.

Simultaneously, their email space becomes 25 times larger. And more: to make everybody’s Fotki experience more pleasant and fruitful, all its members are given an ability to keep blogs on Fotki. Indeed, great pieces of news for Free Fotki members; and that’s the beginning only for Fotki growth makes it possible to widen the usage of the existing features and develop new, more advanced ones.

Members privacy being an important priority for the majority of Fotki users, Photo Comments section was in the spotlight of Fotki development team last week. The result is a new feature giving photos’ owner an option to log the IP address of any visitor adding comments to his/her photos. If saving IP address is enabled, an IP-logging notification will be placed beneath the comment form.

In the Photo Albums section, the album header obtained a perfect look and became fully customized: one can view it either in full or in compact view. Java-applet uploader was bettered due to a function of restoring a failed upload added. Now, if a user interrupts, casually or deliberately, an upload process by closing the browser or moving to a different page, next time the user opens the uploader, he will be offered to complete the previous upload starting from the point at which the process was interrupted.

Another update is made in the Ordering Prints section: its new cropping preview is as slick as a whistle. Nothing superfluous, while all that is needed is extremely handy: quick start and fluent run with all mainstream platforms and in all browsers on the one hand, and pictorial rendition of which parts of photo will be cut off, on the other hand. To better see the difference in various print formats, switch between the two lists, a complete one and that of the chosen print sizes is enabled. Print formats are listed in the preview window as photos’ thumbnails with cut-off areas clearly marked. Next to a thumbnail, loss percentage and print quality are indicated. Clicking on each thumbnail enables the respective full-size photo’s cropping preview with printable area framed and cut-off areas shadowed.
