FotoWare Launch FotoStation Classic, professional media database for Mac OS X.

At Photokina in Cologne, FotoWare a.s celebrate their 10th anniversary by releasing FotoStation Classic, the completely new media database for Mac OS X.  FotoStation Classic is the standard edition in the FotoStation product family, and offers a wealth of solutions for problems created by the ever-increasing flow of digital images.  Version 5.1 Classic for the Mac OS X operating system provides many new features and a unique flexibility which enables the adaptation of the software to the needs of a single user as well as in a corporate environment.

“It was our goal to make FotoStation even more adaptable to the individual needs of a photographer, an editor, or any user who on a daily basis is working with digital images”, commented Norman Milne, Managing Director Fotoware UK.

“The considerable volume of pictures which are taken today by digital cameras can cause great organisational problems for smaller companies.  We have done everything to help the users overcome these problems with a minimum of effort”, Milne continues.

The new Mac OS X version has been developed with the aim of meeting the demands of professional users.  Many of the current Mac users have participated in the beta test program and given their vital input to FotoWare. ?A single user will now benefit from the automated functions which used to be reserved for Client-Server solutions.  Additionally, all users will benefit from an improved user interface with incomparable flexibility with regards to browsing and sorting, as well as the support of different file formats?, added Milne.

New archiving features facilitate the import of pictures from any kind of digital camera, and Actions such as resize and crop can be activated to automate repetitive processes.  The interface and the new functions supply all the necessary tools to integrate FotoStation in any production environment.

The first version of FotoStation was launched in 1995. Today more than two million licenses have been sold worldwide.  Professional photographers, newspapers, press and photo agencies were the initial users, but over the years many other businesses have discovered the versatility of FotoStation.  As the standard solution for Digital Asset Management systems the market share of FotoStation is growing proportionally with the number of digital cameras sold worldwide.

FotoWare offers a suite of products, which further enhance the functionality of FotoStation Classic.  For example, Index Manager works as an additional server application to manage enormous archives with an unlimited numbers of objects.  The combination of FotoStation and Index Manager is the number one choice among thousands of users worldwide.
