Epson UK Press Release
Life: A Journey Through Time, an epic multi-year project that lyrically and pictorially interprets the history of life on Earth from its earliest beginnings to its present diversity.
October 2007 - Frans Lanting, acclaimed as one of the great nature photographers of our time brings his unique and breathtaking images to Europe. Seven years in development, Life: A Journey Through Time is Frans Lanting’s most ambitious project to date. It depicts a journey of photographic discovery that parallels new scientific insights about the story of life on Earth. The photographic exhibition, which will tour Europe, has been printed using the latest Epson Stylus Pro printing technology featuring UltraChrome K3 Ink with Vivid Magenta. In addition to the exhibition, the Life project includes a multimedia orchestral performance with a score by Philip Glass, a large-format photographic book and a dedicated website - check www.lifethroughtime.com for more information and details about Life events.
The exhibition will combine fine photographic prints with interpretive text panels. The collection of prints includes Stromatolites, an erupting volcano in Hawaii and the warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef. For Frans, it was important that the prints reflected the real beauty of the sights that he photographed. “I have been on an incredible journey, seeing some of the most thought provoking and moving scenes of nature. I wanted this experience to be expressed through the exhibition and the LIFE events. We used Epson’s state-of-the-art Stylus Pro printers and UltraChrome K3 Ink with Vivid Magenta to help us achieve prints that will do these natural wonders justice. I can say that we have more than fulfilled this aim.”
Epson UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta further expands the already wide colour gamut of UltraChrome K3 and is a breakthrough in pigment chemistry. It features in Epson’s large format printer range which includes the A2 Stylus Pro 4880, 24” Stylus Pro 7880, 44” Stylus Pro 9880 and 64” Stylus Pro 11880. The full ink set includes nine ink cartridges: photo black, matte black, light black, light light black, cyan, light cyan, yellow, vivid magenta and vivid light magenta. The two magenta inks use new high-density pigments that create more vibrant blues and magenta, for example those found in seascapes or landscapes. Both photo black and matte black cartridges are easy interchangeable and optimise output for glossy and matte papers. The UltraChrome K3 ink with Vivid Magenta, enables superb grey balance and precise colour without any colour cast.
