Fujifilm Distinctions Awards goes global

In a new departure for Fujifilm Professional, its Distinctions Awards will now be open to photographers right across the world.

As in previous years the Awards has an open brief and is open to any photographer - professional, enthusiast or student. The only stipulation is that submissions must have been originated on film from Fujifilm’s range of professional or consumer films.

Images are scanned and then submitted via the Distinctions website, www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk - the closing date for entries is 1 September 2009. Entry is free and photographers can submit as many images as they like.

A shortlist of Merit winners will be chosen at the start of September, each Merit winner will then be invited to submit a print for final judging. There are three cash prizes up for grabs. The overall winner will receive £1,000. The second placed photographer will receive £500 and third place will receive £250. The top three images, plus a selection of Merit winners will feature in an Autumn exhibition to held at Bayeux in London’s West End.

Jerry Deeney, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Professional explained why the Awards were going global: “Since we launched Distinctions in 2002 over 30,000 images have been submitted and it has become one of the most prestigious photographic awards. Each year we receive an increasing number of requests from photographers from outside of the UK to enter Distinctions. Photographers choose film for creativity and for quality and by opening up the Awards to the rest of the world we hope to encourage more photographers to appreciate the true art of photography.”
