Fujifilm sponsors major photographic award

The Societies’ are delighted to announce that Fujifilm are supporting the Photographer of the Year Award with a major prize to the winner of their latest camera.

The prize includes the new Fujifilm XT1 and Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R lens both of which have received terrific reviews on their release.

Members of the Societies have the opportunity of winning this tremendous prize by entering the monthly image competition. The competition runs from January through to November and has 28 categories covering a wide range of topics. The competition is judged the first week of each month, therefore entries need to be received by the final week of the preceding month.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a new compact system camera that looks and feels very much like a miniature DSLR.

The X-T1 features evolved SLR-style handling, mechanical dials and weather-resistance*, together with all the benefits of an X-Series camera, such as compact size, excellent mobility and high-speed performance. What’s more, its newly developed electronic viewfinder is almost indistinguishable from an optical viewfinder thanks to its ultra fast display speed.

Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R - The lens' incredible resolving power is thanks to a new optical design featuring 11 elements in 8 groups. Two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements and one double-sided aspherical element are used to control spherical and chromatic aberrations, while a further four of the elements feature convex surfaces to ensure excellent light coverage, even when shooting wide open.

Like other XF lenses, the XF56mmF1.2 R is designed to be comfortable in use and has a premium quality look and feel.

Phil Jones CEO of the Societies says “This is a great incentive for our members to enter our competition and stand the chance of walking away with this incredible piece of kit.” He goes on to say “Fujifilm have for many years been generous supporters of the Societies and once again we very much appreciate their support.”
