The Fujifilm Student Awards 2013 is now open for entries. Run in conjunction with ChooseFilm.com and Metroprint, the theme for this year’s Award is ‘The Colour Of….’ with students being briefed to capture an image that that illustrates how colour lights up their world. In a new twist to this year’s awards, entries are open to all students in the UK, not just those undertaking courses involving photography. This decision was taken following several requests from students who are keen photographers but not actually studying photography. Fujifilm launches 2013 Student Awards

The Fujifilm Student Awards 2013 is now open for entries. This year’s Award is run in conjunction with ChooseFilm.com, the online community dedicated to film photography and Metroprint, the online arm of Metro Imaging, the respected London pro lab.

In a new twist to this year’s awards, entries will be open to all students in the UK, not just those undertaking courses involving photography. This decision was taken following several requests from students who are keen photographers but not actually studying photography.

The theme for this year’s Award is ‘The Colour Of….’ with students being briefed to capture an image that that illustrates how colour lights up their world.

All images must be taken on Fujifilm Professional film and submitted via www.fujifilmstudentawards.co.uk - entry is free and students can enter as many photographs as they wish.

In addition to being named Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2013 the winner will also be presented with £200 worth of film from Fujifilm, a professionally produced folio of prints and a one-to-one printing/consultancy session with one of Metroprint’s top printers. The winning image will also feature in an exhibition to be held in London next summer.

This year sees the introduction of a monthly ‘Curator’s Choice’ where one image will be selected and featured on the Award’s website and social media channels. The winner of each monthly award will be presented with a free 12” x 16” professionally produced print of their winning image by Metroprint as well as 10 rolls of Fujifilm film. Each monthly winner will also feature in the winner’s exhibition in Summer 2013.

The college or university that submits the most entries will win £200 worth of Fujifilm Professional film.

Fujifilm Professional’s product manager, Gabriel Da Costa, commented on the Awards: “The Fujifilm Student Awards are a major part of the curriculum for many colleges, and tutors right across Britain see the Awards as pivotal to their students’ education which is why we have made the decision to broaden the spectrum of entrant this year. The Fujifilm Student Awards provide a great opportunity to see the level of talent that many young photographers out there possess; many of the winners from previous years have gone on to enjoy successful careers as professional photographers.”

2013 marks the 28th anniversary of the competition, making it the longest running and most prestigious student photography awards in the UK. The closing date for the competition is the 29th April 2013.
