"Geek and Me" muvee-Making Contest
muvee and Atlantic Records Announce ‘Geek and Me’ muvee-Making Contest with Recording Artist Jason Mraz - Contest debuts muveeOnline web service for online creation of muvees, as well as a customized style that incorporates artist music video elements
Singapore and New York - June 13, 2006 - muvee, the pioneer and leader in Instant Personal Video, has teamed with recording artist, Jason Mraz, to launch an online muvee-making contest that gives fans the chance to create muvees that weave their own footage into the artist’s original ‘Geek In The Pink’ music video. Jason Mraz fans can now enter the ‘Geek and Me’ muvee contest at www.jasonmraz.com/multimedia. Fans simply need to upload their own video and/or pictures, up to maximum combined file size of 20MB. On the back-end, the muveeOnline web service will then automatically blend and synchronize the fan’s footage with footage from Jason Mraz’s music video to create a unique finished production. The user is then sent an email with a link to play and watch their ‘Geek and Me’ muvee. They can also opt to have their muvee posted on the ‘Geek and Me’ muvee gallery for voting, or make more muvees.
Philip Morgan, muvee’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “We’ve reached a whole new level in our product and style development and this contest marks the first time we’re launching both an online muvee-making service as well as a custom-created style that marries a user’s own content with an existing music video to create a new unique production. It’s exciting because we’re enabling Jason Mraz fans to star alongside him in his music video - and that very special and personalized muvee can then be shared with others. Our technology automatically takes care of all the creative work so users can just sit back and enjoy being in the video with Jason.
It’s a whole new way for fans everywhere to interact and identify with their favorite artists on a much more personal level.”
Jason Mraz has been celebrated as one of the most gifted young singer/songwriters to emerge in recent years. Born in Virginia, Jason left his hometown of Mechanicsville in 1999 and headed to California. Settling in San Diego, Jason became a leading fixture of the city’s renowned coffee house scene. In 2002, Jason’s first studio album, Waiting For My Rocket To Come, a compelling blend of folk, pop, hip-hop and roots rock, was released. The platinum selling album received major critical praise and spawned chart-topping singles. At the same time Jason earned widespread acclaim for his incredibly captivating live performances, headlining several national tours and sharing stages with Coldplay, Bob Dylan and Dave Matthews Band among others. Jason released his much anticipated second studio album, Mr. A-Z last July. Mr. A-Z was produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band, Rolling Stones) and fully showcases Jason’s amazing talents as a singer, songwriter and musician. Jason spent most of this past year on the road in support of Mr A-Z hitting every major US city as well as the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia.
The ‘Geek and Me’ muvee contest is open to residents of the United States aged 13 years or older. During the contest period, fans from other countries will also be able to make muvees online at www.jasonmraz.com/multimedia and showcase them on the gallery, but they will not eligible to enter the contest. Once the contest closes, online viewers and Atlantic Records will shortlist 5 finalists from which Jason Mraz will choose the winning muvee. Two runners up each win a copy of muvee autoProducer PC software, while the grand prize winner walks away with a 27-inch flatscreen TV, 3CCD miniDV camcorder, a video iPod and a homedock deluxe for connecting the video iPod to a TV.
Fans who wish to make more muvees using their own music and different styles can do so at www.muvee.com/mraz, which offers a free download of muvee autoProducer PC software.
