Páramo Press Release

January 2008 - Andy Rouse, wildlife photographer, joins Páramo at the Outdoors Show

The renowned wildlife photographer, Andy Rouse, will be entertaining and inspiring photographers and wildlife lovers at the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show in March this year. For the first time, Andy will be taking the stage at the NEC and, what’s more, will be available for personal critiques on the Páramo stand at the Show, OU 414.  Andy is a long term fan of Páramo clothing as it provides rustle-free warmth and waterproofing, which is ideal for his photography needs. Photographers can sign up in advance with Páramo to have a valuable 10 minutes of Andy’s time at the show.

Andy Rouse has been invited to appear in the World Theatre at The OS Outdoors Show on Saturday 15th March 10-11am. In addition, Andy can be heard and seen on both Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March in The Perfect Spot – the smaller theatre targeted specifically at photography enthusiasts, with a chance for questions and discussion with Andy as well as enjoying his inimitable presentation style.

There’s also a really special prospect for keen photographers and Andy Rouse fans – Andy will be joining Páramo Directional Clothing Systems on Stand OU 414 in order to offer an extra opportunity to individuals who would appreciate a professional’s feedback on their photographs. For £15 (with profits going to the Aspira Fund), photographers can proffer upto three photographs to be critiqued by Andy. He will spend 10 minutes with each participant providing feedback, suggestions and helpful advice from his extensive experience of outdoor photography.

Photographers who would like to benefit from an ‘audience’ with Andy Rouse on the Páramo stand can come along on spec on the day but are recommended to book a slot in advance by telephoning the Páramo events team on 01892 786446. We have a limited number of complimentary tickets to the show worth £12 and early applicants will be rewarded with one of these to enable them to get into the Show for free.

Photographer Andy Rouse
World renowned wildlife photographer Andy Rouse has long had a passion for wild things.  He has built his reputation on getting very close to the world’s most dangerous animals; in doing so, capturing some of the most exciting and evocative images of wildlife found today.  Andy is equally passionate about the message his images convey, hopefully stimulating us all to act on their behalf to conserve them and their habitats.

Andy is a charismatic presenter who is an expert on the wildlife that he photographs. He writes regular columns for photographic and internet magazines worldwide, has written 15+ books to date and starred in his own TV series. He is a multi award-winning photographer with consistent success in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and his annual talks program is always sold out.

Páramo Directional Clothing Systems
Páramo’s unique outdoor gear made from Nikwax Directional fabrics has won awards from the Rambler’s Association, Trail and Country Walking Magazines among others. The brand has been adopted by outdoor professionals and outdoor enthusiasts since its inception 15 years ago, while photographers and wildlife watchers have more recently recognised the benefits it offers – keeping out the weather, providing warmth as well as waterproofing, removing perspiration more effectively and all in a quiet and soft fabric.

Many Páramo purchasers also appreciate the longevity offered by the garments and the fact that the waterproofing on Páramo waterproofs can be renewed indefinitely using Nikwax aftercare. What’s more Páramo waterproofs are ethically manufactured by the charitable Miquelina Foundation in Colombia, providing training and employment to enhance the lives of women and their children in Bogotá. Andy Rouse wears Páramo garments when photographing wildlife – whether waterproofs and insulation to capture bears or penguins in polar regions or Trek & Travel shirts and trousers to photograph gorillas in Rwanda. Andy and Páramo set up the Aspira Fund in 2006 – using profits from the sales of the Limited Edition Andy Rouse Páramo range to benefit a range of ecological and humanitarian projects.
