The project celebrates the joy of wildness, reminding us all about why nature matters in our lives, and more important, why we need to protect it.
An almost epic quest, 66 European photographers are participating in Wild Wonders and they will complete very different missions before the conclusion in 2010 which will then see the launch of informative books and stunning outdoor exhibitions that will tour Europe and that will feature the emotional power of great photography captured during this project.
A unique initiative, Wild Wonders has chosen Gitzo to be a dedicated partner, and with its partners and some of the best media in the world the project is set to create the best wild show ever seen.
Gitzo has provided a number of the photographers with some of the best possible equipment for their different assignments: from tripods and ball heads to apparel. Among the photographers is Staffan Widstrand, award-winning photographer, writer and MD of Wild Wonders of Europe. Other supported photographers are from Italy, Sweden, Russia, Norway, Hungary, Spain, UK*, Holland, France, Poland and Germany.
Each photographer has his/her own assignment in documenting the Wild Wonders: from the classical Umbria Olive Trees, or the Danube delta, to the unexpected “city wildlife” of Berlin and the Vatican City.
A full section in the new Gitzo Web Site will be dedicated to the initiative complete with extensive coverage of the photographers and their missions. Wild Wonders of Europe is an opportunity for Gitzo to further reinforce its extreme sensibility to the environment and nature.
Luca Alessandrini, Gitzo Brand Manager for Europe commented “Gitzo is proud to support the hard work of the Wild Wonders photographers. Through photography this unique project will help people to be more aware of the crucial importance of biodiversity by safeguarding our environmental heritage.”
