Washington-based Juicy Bits today introduces Halftone 1.0, their new vintage effects app for iPhone and iPod touch. Halftone adds an aged halftone-style printing effect to photos to give them a unique, vintage look. Halftone offers nine paper styles, nine built-in layouts, two caption styles, and the ability to choose a font. Photos can be customized, then saved to the photo album, sent via e-mail, and shared with friends on Facebook.

Sammamish, Washington - Today, Juicy Bits released Halftone 1.0, an app for iPhone and iPod touch that adds an aged halftone-style printing effect to photos to give them a unique, vintage look. With nine paper styles, nine built-in layouts, two caption styles, and the ability to choose a font (including an embedded font called Digital Strip), photos can be customized, then saved to the photo album, sent via e-mail, and shared with friends on Facebook.

To create a Halftone image, a photo is captured using the built-in camera, selected from the photo album, or pasted from the pasteboard.

Then, any of nine different paper styles is selected: Plain White, Blue Wash, Discolored, Taped, Wrinkled, Crumple, Parchment, Borders, and Stains. The choice of paper style can give the photo a range of looks, from crisp and clean to distressed and aged.

Nine layouts are available that feature two caption styles in various locations, including a layout without captions, and a layout without captions or borders. Simply touch a caption to edit its text.

Any installed font is available for the caption text at Small, Medium, and Large sizes. In addition, Halftone includes a licensed comic-style font called Digital Strip.

The final Halftone photo can be saved to the photo album, sent via e-mail, and sent directly to friends on Facebook.
