Hama has announced a compact LED panel for video-enabled DSLR cameras. “It’s approximately the size of a pack of cigarettes, and its two-centimetre depth is sufficient to hold 40 dimmable daylight LEDs,” the company says. Powered by 3 AAA batteries, the Hama LED lamp has an operating time of one hour and is available for €129.

Compact daylight

Digital reflex cameras have an integrated flash, of course, but sometimes you just need more.

Additional light sources aren’t just necessary for macro images where you want to light up every detail. Some modern cameras are equipped with a video function. If recordings are made in closed and often dark rooms, only an additional continuous light source can ensure watchable films.

Of course, no one wants to lug around a heavy cinematographic lamp, but Hama offers a brilliant alternative with its compact, battery-operated LED lamp. It’s approximately the size of a pack of cigarettes, and its two-centimetre depth is sufficient to hold 40 dimmable daylight LEDs. Users can also make the light softer with the attached diffuser, or use the orange filter to create warmer tones. The lamp, which is attached to a swan neck that can be flexibly bent in all directions, can be connected to the camera via the flash shoe. Thanks to the ¼-inch connection thread, the lamp can also be placed on a tripod if necessary. If high-performance batteries are being used, the LED lamp can provide at least an hour’s worth of light.
