High-Speed Card Reader for CF Cards from Hama

Quick Pit Stop

Whoever takes photographs using a digital reflex camera ideally equips it with a large and fast memory card. This is the only way to take advantage of all the camera’s features and to also be able to save a reasonable amount of high-resolution pictures. Processing the pictures is usually a rude awakening: Standard card readers admittedly cope admirably with the flood of information, but they do take their time.

At the upcoming CeBit exhibition, Hama will present two high-speed readers as part of the Tech-Line series, which was introduced last autumn. Each reader will include two extensive software bundles for Windows and Mac.

Both card readers can read CompactFlash cards and Micro Drives, the two variants with which most cameras work, approximately twice as quickly as modern high-speed USB devices.  The USB-2.0 version can manage up to 30 MB/s and the FireWire-800 version up to 40 MB/s.

The shockproof casing, a little larger than a CF card, means that both readers are suitable for notebook cases for work on the go. Included with the product are either a USB-2.0 or FireWire connection cable as well as the full version of Hama Digital Software Suite Deluxe for Windows and Mac, ArcSoft PhotoStudio Darkroom, ArcSoft PhotoImpression 6, ArcSoft Panorama Maker 4, Hama Launch Pad, PC INSPECTOR smart recovery and the IrfanView image viewer.
