Make an impression with the new HP Photosmart R707

Sleek and modern ergonomic styling plus a host of advanced features set the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera apart from the crowd

London, FEBRUARY 16TH 2004 - HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announces the HP Photosmart R707, the first of the brand new R-series range, which deliver a combination of sleek design and high-functioning technical innovations, offering outstanding digital photography to all users.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera, with an impressive 5.1 MP, is a compact model, introducing HP?s distinctive new styling. With its brushed stainless steel front, asymmetric body styling, signature curves and “wave-style” fingergrip, this model features a well designed modern look and a host of unique elements, contributing to a fully featured digital camera which makes digital photography even more easy and enjoyable.

Offering 24x total zoom (3x optical and 8x digital) and the choice of 10 shooting modes, the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera enables you to take crisp, sharp shots from almost any distance and is the ideal camera for keen amateur photographers who want more power and creativity at their fingertips.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera also boasts HP Real Life Technologies to help produce successful photos and an enjoyable digital photography experience for the user. These include a world first for HP, an in-camera red-eye removal option that can correct pictures after they are taken, as well as HP?s patented Adaptive Lighting technology which automatically brightens selected areas of high contrast photos to give brighter, more true-to-life shots. An auto focus assist light also allows for sharp, clear pictures, even in low light situations.

Another new addition included within HP?s Real Life Technologies and featuring on the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera is the world?s first in-camera panorama preview. Designed for those multi-shot photos of landscapes, this system displays a ghosted section of the previous image on the LCD instead of leaving the user to guess where the next shot should start. As well as allowing the user to be sure of more accurate panoramic photos, HP?s Panorama photo mode then stitches the shots together when they are downloaded to the PC, providing a seamless finish. Another industry first is the option to review the full panorama on the camera?s LCD screen in playback.

The dynamic new HP Photosmart R707 digital camera also incorporates HP Photo Adviser, a unique feature from HP?s Real Life Technologies, which analyses the user?s photos and suggests how aspects such as exposure or focus might be improved. Perfect for any developing photographer, this ingenious tool helps produce professional looking photos at the touch of a button.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera also benefits from HP?s Instant Share technology, which allows easy downloading, printing, viewing and sharing by email or via the web. An orientation sensor, another advanced feature, is also included within the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera. Each snap is automatically positioned the right way up when viewed on a TV or LCD ? allowing the easy and effortless sharing of any photo collection.

To accompany the sleek new HP Photosmart R707 digital camera, HP also introduces the HP Photosmart R-series digital camera docking station, an easy-to-use and flexible device either bundled with the digital camera or as an optional accessory. This multi-functional docking station can recharge the Li-Ion battery while it?s in the camera as well as providing an extra charging bay for second batteries. The HP Photosmart R-series digital camera docking station connects to a PC or Mac and uses HP Instant Share to allow easy downloading, printing and emailing. It can also be connected to a TV to allow easy viewing of photos as a slideshow using the ultra-slim wireless remote control.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera comes complete with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, computer cable, direct print cable, HP Image Zone software, wriststrap, manual and AC adapter. An optional accessory kit includes a spare Li-Ion battery, fast charger and carry case.
