Creative Photo Printing With or Without a PC - The HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer delivers excellent quality photos even without using a PC

HP today announced the launch of the HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer, ideal for home photo printing enthusiasts. Affordable and easy to use, this versatile printer combines innovative HP technologies at breakthrough print speeds, creating outstanding quality colour and black and white photos or documents.

Fast and reliable print performances are part of the HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer’s appeal. It is capable of printing photos on a variety of paper sizes, including 10 x 15 cm, 13 x18 cm, or panorama 10 x 30 cm in as fast as 27 seconds.  It can also print documents at breakthrough speeds up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 24ppm in colour, ensuring fast high quality results.

Printing perfect photos from home has never been easier. A large 4.6 cm (1.8 inch) colour display allows users to preview, edit and share images without switching on the PC. While a number of new intuitive features guide users step-by-step through the printing process, ensuring high quality prints. Pictbridge-enabled and compatible with an assortment of memory cards1, this printer makes it simple to transfer, edit and print images directly from a digital camera or from a memory card. An optional Bluetooth adapter is also available for those who need to print images stored on a PDA, camera phone or other Bluetooth enabled devices.

For the more creative user, the HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer can print a sequence of images or a single still image from a digital video clip. This
innovative feature makes it easier for users to extract an image from a video sequence.

The HP Vivera Inks and the 6-ink printing system enable users to draw upon millions of ink combinations to create vivid colour-rich images. With the HP Vivera Inks users can print snapshots of family and friends or panoramic landscapes - these specially formulated inks ensure photographs depict true-to-life colours that last for generations.2

Home users wanting to print artistic black and white images can purchase the optional HP 100 Grey Inkjet Print Cartridge, which offers grain-free images with dramatic detail.  For greater value, photo printing users can purchase HP’s new photo packs which have the ideal combination of ink and media and allow photo printing from as little as 0.30€.3

The HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer comes equipped with two paper trays, designed to make printing photos easy. The 100 sheet main paper tray
provides a large storage area for standard paper, while a removable 10 x 15 cm tray can hold up to 20 pages of photo paper.

The automatic paper type sensor makes printing even simpler by eliminating the need to manually adjust paper settings via a PC.

HP’s innovative Real Life technologies offer advanced editing options for users wanting to fully experiment with photo printing. This technology enables users to enhance images by automatically removing red-eye, as well as adjusting the brightness and lustre of an image with the adaptive lighting features.

When connected to a PC, HP’s Image Zone software enables users to crop, edit and adjust their photos. Used in conjunction with HP Instant Share, users can share their image with friends and family without having to send large file attachments.

The HP Photosmart 8050 Photo Printer is available from September 15 at a recommended street price of €149 (actual prices may vary).
