IFES 2012 Photography Contest

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has announced the IFES 2012 photography contest. The competition, which seeks photographs of individuals taking part in the electoral process or other activities that demonstrate the values of democratic governance and citizen engagement, is open to amateur and professional photographers, and entries are accepted through 16th February 2012, 11pm ET. What:
Since 2009, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has sponsored an annual democracy-themed contest to highlight the many ways people around the world demonstrate a sense of civic responsibility. IFES encourages images of individuals taking part in the electoral process and other activities that demonstrate the values of democratic governance and civic engagement.
One winner and up to 10 finalists will be chosen in each category. The winner of each category will receive $600 (USD).
Who:
The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers and will be divided into two categories:
· The Public Category is open to all photographers who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry
· The IFES’ Choice Category is open only to current and former IFES employees, including consultants and interns
When:
Contest opens Jan. 5, 2012, at 8 a.m. Eastern Time and closes Feb. 16, 2012, at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
