Press Release
RESULTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL GARDEN PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR’S EARLY BIRD COMPETITION 2009
Early birds who entered a competition designed to give photographers a bite-sized project to work towards in the summer, have enjoyed far more than a breakfast of worms. The Early Bird Competition, promoted by International Garden Photographer of the Year, attracted a range of impressive entries this year with its theme ‘In Full Bloom’. The five talented winners will receive a signed and inscribed copy of the new book: International Garden Photographer of the Year Collection 02 - featuring the entire finalist and commended photographs from the 2009 exhibition.
Organiser, Philip Smith, said: “The early bird standard was higher then ever this year and this bodes well for next year’s exhibition.”
“The main competition ends on November 30 so don’t miss the opportunity to enter your photographs!”
The images, which can be seen at: http://www.igpoty.com/competition02/Gallery_EBC2009.asp?parent=gallery were singled out variously for their wit, simplicity, exuberance, light quality and originality. Click on the individual images to read exactly why the judges made their choices.
The 2010 competition is now open at www.igpoty.com. There are seven categories, plus awards for single images as well as portfolios – deadline November 30 2009. The 2009 exhibition is currently on show at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG) until September 13 2009. After this date it will be at Kew’s country garden, Wakehurst Place, Sussex.
