ILFORD HONOURED WITH PRESTIGIOUS 2013 TIPA PHOTO AWARD

GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk Awarded Best Inkjet Photo Paper

Marly, Switzerland – May 6, 2013 - ILFORD (http://www.ilford.com), the leading developer and manufacturer of professional quality media for both inkjet printing and colour photographic processes, today announced that its GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk has been awarded the 2013 TIPA award for Best Inkjet Photo Paper. Designed specifically for printing fine art monochrome images, TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) praised the new Gold Mono Silk for bringing out a rich, vibrant tonal range and transition in black and white prints.

Enabling photographers to achieve inkjet prints reminiscent of those they developed in the traditional darkroom era, the acid and lignin-free fibre-based paper simulates the qualities of traditional silver halide black and white photographic paper. By focusing on all of the elements needed to create the perfect monochrome image, ILFORD have designed Gold Mono Silk with exceptional Dmax and Dmin values to create a product that offers seamless contrast and transition between shadow and highlight areas.

“Winning a TIPA Award for our inkjet photo papers for the second consecutive year is a true honour for ILFORD,” said Paul Willems, CEO of ILFORD. “TIPA Awards are the most globally sought-after and admired recognition for photo products, and a clear distinction that further demonstrates our commitment to offering the very best in professional inkjet media.”

He adds, “This latest award is also a real compliment for our technical and R&D teams as it reaffirms not only our industry-leading capabilities to design, develop and bring to market relevant products, but also that we are investing the time to listen to and understand the needs of photographers.”

Gold Mono Silk has already picked up a Photokina Star Award on its debut in Germany and more recently a Digital Camera Grand Prix Gold Award from Japan. About the TIPA Awards
The Technical Image Press Association Awards are recognized as one of the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide. Every year, TIPA editors vote for the best photo and imaging products introduced to the market during the previous 12 months. TIPA editors take into account innovation, the use of leading-edge technology, design and ergonomics, ease-of-use, as well as price/performance ratio. Since TIPA member magazines range in content and goals, the award voting process benefits from a wide range of expertise. As a result, the TIPA Awards are bestowed through a majority of votes by very experienced editors.
