The Impressions of Ladakh tour is a fantastic opportunity to explore the highlights of this unique region of India, and to learn travel photography in the company of Steve Davey, a professional travel photographer.
Ladakh is a high altitude landscape sandwiched between the Greater Himalayan and Karakoram Mountain ranges. A mix of fertile valleys, rivers, mountains and high plateaus, some 50% of the population is Buddhist and there are many Tibetan-style monasteries.
Our tour is timed to correspond with the Tse Chu festival at the Thak Tok monastery, where we will be able to photograph the Tibetan Buddhist Cham dancing. This masked religious dance is similar to that at the more famous Hemis Festival, but more intimate, and less likely to be crowded with tourists!
Other highlights of this travel photography tour include the two-day drive across the Leh-Manali Highway (one of the highest motorable roads in the world), the picturesque high-altitude city of Leh, the famous Hemis Gompa and Dharamsala the seat of the exiled Dalai Lama in India.
The tour is organised with private transport throughout, to give us more freedom and flexibility, and to allow us to stop for any photo-opportunities we encounter along the route.
On one of Steve Davey’s travel photography trips, you will not just have an enjoyable holiday: Steve uses a mix of nightly illustrated talks, group practical demonstrations and personal tuition and critique to teach you more about travel photography that you ever thought possible!
Land arrangements for this tour are provided by Intrepid Travel, who have over 20 years experience in running small group adventures. All payments will be handled by Intrepid and you will be protected by their industry bonding.
