In.dust.rial Photography Exhibition

Vassilis Spyrou presents his third solo exhibition “In.dust.rial” at Hoxton bar-gallery in Athens. The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 20th, 2009. In this project, Vassilis Spyrou focused on interior industrial scenes. The photographs were shot on location at the Ladopoulos Papermill, which used to be the greatest papermill of the Balkans in the past, employing over 1200 people for decades, but is now completely deserted.

Vassilis Spyrou presents his third solo exhibition at Hoxton bar-gallery in Athens. The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 20th, 2009.
In this exhibition entitled “In.dust.rial”, Vassilis Spyrou focused on interior industrial scenes. A passage through the history and locations of the Ladopoulos Papermill, which used to be the greatest papermill of the Balkans in the past, employing over 1200 people for decades. The high-ceilinged halls where one can find the now out-of-service machines and desks still containing folders with archive material, the laboratories still full of test tubes, the endless corridors, the stairwell and lifts - everything is plunged into silence and dust, nonetheless raising memories and consciousness…
Vassilis Spyrou was born and raised in Karditsa, Greece. He has completed Management Studies in Thessaloniki and he is currently a student at the Department of Building Refurbishing and Restoration of the Educational Institute of Technology (TEI) in Patras. His work has received numerous honors and awards in photo competitions. He freelances regularly in several magazines. One of the founders and active member of Photography club of Patras “IDIFOS”.
