The Photographic Museum of Humanity (PMH) has launched its new online exhibition “In Transit”, featuring the works of prestigious photographers of the PMH community. The aim of this exhibition is to draw attention to the issue of migration, from Latin American people risking their lives in order to fulfill their own "American Dream," to workers moving every day from the city center to the suburbs. PHOTOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF HUMANITY presents its new exhibition: IN TRANSIT

August 5th, 2013: Photographic Museum of Humanity announces the release of its new online exhibition “In Transit”, featuring the works of prestigious photographers of the PMH community like Alejandro Cartagena, Michelle Frankfurter, Sibylle Fendt and Alejandro Lipszyc. The exhibition counts with a special introduction by the recognized novelist and journalist Francisco Goldman.

Migrations are a persistent phenomena in the history of mankind. For different reasons, within different contexts and most of the times forced, people have been moving from one region to one another, changing the places where they lived and assimilating new ways of life.

The aim of this exhibition is to go deep into the subject, in different scales: from Latin American people risking their lives in order to fulfill their own "American Dream", to workers moving everyday from the city center to the suburbs. In every circumstance, migrants seem to be in a no man’s land: they are trying to leave behind an old way of living while dreaming with a new one.

“In Transit” is a deep view of this transition between the old world that migrants had to withdraw from and the new one in which they pin their hopes.

GALLERY I: "DESTINO" BY MICHELLE FRANKFURTER. How many Central American people have crossed the Mexican border to the United States in the last decade? Photographer Michelle Frankfurter presents a very deep analysis of this phenomenon by means of more than of 10 years a photographic exploration.

GALLERY II: "PASSAGE TRACES" COLLECTIVE SHOW BY ANDY SYPRA, CHRISTIAN VUM, FABIO CUTTICA, FARBOD FIROOZI, KIRK CRIPPENS, MAX CABELLO ORCASITAS, RONNY ROMAN ROZENBERG, SHANNON JENSEN. We are used to look at migrant stories through migrants faces. This collective exhibition changes the approach and explore the migration subject through subtle details, spaces and traces of the migrants in different parts of the world. GALLERY III: "EMIGRANT" BY ALEJANDRO LIPSZYC How to describe the precise moment when an individual or a family leaves its own country to find a new life abroad? Argentine photographer Alejandro Lipszyc was there making portraits of those moments, developing a series that works as a mirror of the greatest economic crisis in Argentina's history.

GALLERY IV: "THE CAR POOLERS" BY ALEJANDRO CARTAGENA A fresh and innovative view of the everyday migration experienced by workers from Monterrey´s urban center to the new rich suburbs under construction. A work awarded by Martin Parr, Kira Pollack and Sebastian Liste with the 3rd prize of the Photographic Museum of Humanity 2013 Grant. GALLERY V: "DEAR MS. K" BY SIBYLLE FENDT A sensitive approach of different kinds of refugees in Germany. How are their lives? Where do they live? Photographer Sibylle Fendt explores these kind of suspended existences.
