Pixel.co.uk has launched its inaugural photography competition. Comprising five categories, the competition is open to registered users of the website. "We have a great prize lined up for the winner of each of the five categories, kindly donated by our overall Sponsor, Fujifilm UK," the company said in a statement. Fujifilm are going to be offering the winner of each category a 24”x 36” print of their winning image, made at one of London's most prestigious labs. We'll invite them to the lab for a tour and to see their own print being made. The print will then be presented to them along with their award at the Pixel Trade Awards ceremony in London on the 2nd December. Now open for entries, the first category is all about landscape photography. The submission deadline is 15th July.

Pixel Press Release

The very first category of the inaugural Pixel Photography Competition is now OPEN!

This category is all about landscape photography, so get your skates on to enter before the 15th July closing date.

We have a great prize lined up for the winner of each of the five categories, kindly donated by our overall Sponsor, Fujifilm UK.

When asked about the partnership with the new photography competition, Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager Photo Imaging Group at Fujifilm UK Limited told Pixel:

"It’s really quite simple. Fujifilm is all about the printed image and any initiative that encourages photos to be printed and shared is one that we want to be involved with."

He continued: "We talk about the importance of printing images all the time. For those people at the retail end, the sharp end, the ones that talk to the consumer of our product every day; for them to feel the joy of first taking, then printing, then sharing that special image is something they can relate back first hand to those same customers with pride and inspire them to do the same.

"We will be offering the winner of each category a print of their winning image. We'll invite winners to see their own print being made and the print will then be presented to them along with their award at the Pixel Trade Awards ceremony in London in December"

When asked about the category prizes, Peter explained: "We will be offering the winner of each category a 24”x 36” print of their winning image, made at one of London's most prestigious labs. We'll invite them to the lab for a tour and to see their own print being made. The print will then be presented to them along with their award at the Pixel Trade Awards ceremony in London on the 2nd December, where they will be invited to attend the ceremony with their partner or colleague. We will also put them up for the night at the superb Grange City Hotel where the awards will be taking place."
