Innova Art Brings The Passion to Photokina
Innova Art Press Release 28/07/04
Beyond the creative boundary
Making its Photokina debut, newly launched fine art media supplier Innova Art will be mounting an exclusive presentation of The Passion Exhibition by internationally acclaimed photographer Ken Duncan on its stand D019, Hall 14.1.
The show of limited edition photographic prints taken from Mel Gibson’s masterpiece, The Passion of The Christ, is in itself a first, as the images have not previously been seen outside Duncan’s native Australia.
The project marks the summation of long cherished ambitions for all three parties involved. Mel Gibson’s devotion to recreating the life of Christ on the big screen, in all its horror, pathos and transcendent power, astounded the critics and drew audiences by the millions. For Duncan - invited on set by his boyhood friend, Gibson, to interpret the film through his trademark Panographs - the experience inspired some of the most moving, masterful images he has yet produced. And for Innova Art, onto whose papers the exhibition prints were made, it has meant an extraordinary start to their entry into the fine art market.
Wayne Connelly, Innova USA, stated, ?We are delighted to be part of the European introduction of the prints and to have been able to provide Ken with the tone, surface texture and archival quality of paper that he required in producing this unique series of images. The film The Passion of The Christ touched the lives of millions and we know the exhibit will help many relive the experience.?
Duncan?s prints demonstrate the unsurpassed quality of the new Innova Art range of digital fine art media and the astonishing fidelity of reproduction it offers to artists working at the creative edge. The range, which includes both soft and rough textured art paper, matt and gloss photo art papers in natural white and warm colours, is formally launched at this year?s Photokina. A heavyweight canvas will be introduced in the near future. All have been produced with buffered base papers that are acid and lignin free, complying with the most stringent conservation standards.
Innova Art started in 2003 as a specialist supplier of high quality substrates for innovative and niche applications within the ever expanding digital printing markets. Innova stands at the cutting edge of innovation within the industry. It also draws on a wealth of experience in the manufacture and supply of digital media, meaning that customers are assured of both quality and service.
