New Version Delivers Smart, Simple Tools for Digital Photos

MINNEAPOLIS, March 22 /PRNewswire/—Jasc Software, Inc. today announced the release of the public beta version of Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album 5, the newest version of its award-winning digital camera software. With a completely redesigned interface that follows the digital camera user’s workflow, Paint Shop Photo Album puts tools right at the user’s fingertips. Photo Album 5 gives consumers a new level of choice and simplicity not seen in the industry before: choice in viewing, enhancing, sharing, and protecting photos.

With more options to view and organize photos, users can choose to view by file tree, favorite folders, calendar view, or keywords. Photo Album gives users the ability to switch quickly and easily between views. Users are not forced into only one way of working with photos; they can make the choice.

Photo Album provides both automatic and manual options for photo correction with three ways to fix color, contrast, and brightness. Plus, there are more tools to enhance photos, like adding text, sound, frames, edges, borders, and more. Photo Album now has a customizable button so users can jump to their favorite photo editor for more advanced editing if desired.

By offering 17 different ways to share photos, there is something for everyone. From innovative new features such as drag and drop scrapbook pages to powerful, flexible print templates, to professionally bound hardcover books—now digital camera users can do more with their photos.

Photo Album offers more choice in how to protect photos. With just one click, Photo Album’s new PhotoSafe(TM) Archiving System ensures users will never lose another photo. PhotoSafe takes the worry and planning out of keeping digital photos secure by tracking which photos need to be archived, alerting users when photos need to be archived, and burning them to CD. Photo Album also remembers where these photos are stored using its smart search database.

“With digital camera household penetration in the US at 30%, many consumers are moving away from film and accumulating thousands of digital photo files on their PC,” said Michelle Slaughter, Director of Digital Photography Trends at InfoTrends Research Group. “Paint Shop Photo Album 5 will allow consumers to manage, manipulate and share their images quickly and easily.”

“Jasc continues to be in the forefront of digital photography, helping consumers make the most of their digital images,” said Kris Tufto, CEO and President of Jasc Software. “Millions of households are incorporating digital cameras, camera phones, and digital video recorders into their every day lives. Jasc is poised to deliver digital photography solutions that meet the consumer’s demand in the trend toward a digital lifestyle.”
