Kodak To Sponsor Young Photographer Category in 2005 Visions of Science Awards

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, February 9th 2005 - Kodak has once again agreed to sponsor the Young Photographer Category in the 2005 Novartis and The Daily Telegraph Visions of Science Photographic Awards.

This category is aimed specifically at students in full time education and caters for age ranges 16 Years and Under and 17-18 Years. Submitted images can show any aspect of science or the natural world and can be taken by any standard or specialist photographic technique, scientific technique or can be computer generated. Kodak’s sponsorship includes a financial contribution towards promotion of the Visions of Science Photographic Awards across UK schools plus photographic equipment for the winners. Each will receive a KODAK EASYSHARE DX7590 Digital Camera and Printer Dock for themselves and their school.

“Visions of Science is growing in stature year-on-year and we are delighted to continue our association with the Awards,” said Jane Guinn, Chairman & Managing Director, Kodak Limited. “The images produced by these young photographers over the past few years have been stunning and clearly demonstrate their love of both photography and science.”

Inspiration for entries into Visions of Science may come from the natural world, from research in laboratories, from art, technology, people or medicine. What the judges look for are entries with high impact that can make a viewer look again at science, nature and the world around them. Judge and TV presenter Adam Hart-Davis said, “What the judges enjoy most of all are surprises in the images. We love to see strong, traditional photographs bringing science to life, as much as images taken with an array of specialist equipment that open our eyes to new areas of science.”

Entry forms for the 2005 Visions of Science are available by calling 0207 6135577 and the closing date for entries is 6 May 2005.
