LaCie UK Press Release
LaCie Internet Space: Access Home Storage from Anywhere
LONDON, UK (Tuesday 4th November, 2008) – LaCie today announced Internet Space, design by Neil Poulton, an easy-to-use network hard disk that stores digital home libraries and is accessible through the Internet anywhere, anytime, even when the local computer is turned off. With easy setup that takes just minutes, the Internet Space provides shared storage for home computers and UPnP** or DLNA certified players/adapters, as well as a personal web portal for remote access and content sharing.
Users can interface with the LaCie Internet Space, powered by HipServ™, through any internet connection by logging on to www.homelacie.com. This exclusive web portal allows authorised users to access stored content, download it or even upload new files from anywhere.
Sharing music collections or photo slideshows with friends or family is quick and easy thanks to an automatic email invitation system, which eliminates the need for guest account management. LaCie Internet Space also has the ability to stream multimedia files through the local network to compatible media players such as Xbox 360™ and Sony Playstation® 3, or act as an iTunes music server. This feature also allows users to watch videos on their televisions without needing to be near a computer.
The Internet Space’s huge 500 gigabytes or 1 terabyte* of storage capacity allows users to centralise their entire multimedia library. For added security, it comes with HipServTM DesktopMirror software, which safely backs up and restores files. With an additional USB 2.0 port located on the back of the unit, users can connect any USB hard drive to back-up the Internet Space in order to guarantee data protection.
Designed exclusively for LaCie by Neil Poulton to blend seamlessly into any environment, the Internet Space features a discreet, minimalist form with a mirror-polished white finish and a cool, blue LED strip that casts an ambient glow. Small and unobtrusive for its large capacity, the LaCie Internet Space is as suited for the living room as for the desktop.
“The Internet Space is a user-friendly solution for customers wanting easily accessible network or remote storage for multiple computers or UPnP/DLNA media players,” said Christa Dabilly, LaCie Product Manager. “Whether you are looking for a quick and painless way to access your photo collection securely from your friend’s house or to share your last vacation photos with family, friends or colleagues, this device is a perfect NAS solution for remote use.”
Approximately, 100GB of capacity can hold 100,000 photos, 40,000 songs, or 100 movies***.
