Life, Panoramic
Life, Panoramic is a user-submitted photography blog, a city by city view of the world in which locals share their pictures and stories of home… wherever that may be. Photographers upload 12-15 photos of their hometowns along with brief, poetic descriptions of each shot. Rather than sifting through a collection of tourist horror stories or a travel brochure’s propaganda, the public is allowed an intimate view of each city thanks to a subjective, insider’s look. If a city has already been submitted, that’s not an issue. “Part of the fun is actually seeing how two different people view the same place. One thousand New Yorkers would show you New York one thousand different ways,” says Mark Wilson, editor of Life, Panoramic. “And indeed, we’ve already published two vastly different takes on the city.”

Press Release
Panoramic Media Launches User-Submitted Photo Site ‘Life, Panoramic’
Everyday photographers from around the world share their photos of home.
August 19, 2010, Chicago, IL. Following an unveiling that was so successful it crashed their servers, new photo-forward blog Life, Panoramic (lifepanoramic.com) has returned with a user base that spans the globe.
At its most simple, Life, Panoramic is a user-submitted photography blog, a city by city view of the world in which locals share their pictures and stories of home…wherever that may be.
Beautiful photos. Simple prose. A new city is featured every day.
Photographers upload 12-15 photos of their hometowns along with brief, poetic descriptions of each shot. Readers can enjoy a perspective rarely seen. Rather than sifting through a collection of tourist horror stories or a travel brochure’s propaganda, the public is allowed an intimate view of each city thanks to a subjective, insider’s look.
“We’ve been humbled by the response. I actually thought our site was a bit esoteric, but the idea of telling one’s own story of has really resonated with the community,” says Mark Wilson, editor of Life, Panoramic. “Already, readers have submitted posts on Beijing, Las Vegas, Heidelberg…even one from Antarctica. I was a bit skeptical that anyone actually resided in Antarctica. So I emailed them. They responded, ‘I’ve lived all over. I’m sending in Cairo next!’ It was a good lesson for me. You just can’t predict the histories individuals have lived, which his exactly why the site exists.”
