LIGHTROCKET PHOTO PLATFORM LAUNCHES FREE SERVICE INCLUDING 5GB OF STORAGE, A CONFIGURABLE PORTFOLIO WEBSITE AND MORE

Singapore - 11 November 2014: LightRocket (www.lightrocket.com) has launched a new free membership plan, a move which instantly opens up this popular platform to a broader pool of talented and passionate photographers around the world.

Free membership includes 5GB of cloud storage, the ability to publish a collection of images on LightRocket's commercial archive, a configurable portfolio website and a host of other professional media management tools designed to help photographers focus on better management and marketing of their work.

"We have built a fantastic tool for photographers that delivers value in many different ways," said LightRocket CEO and Co-Founder Peter Charlesworth. "As photographers ourselves, we are acutely aware of the challenges faced by many of our colleagues striving to manage, market and distribute their work online. We wanted to provide a solution that would allow as many photographers as possible to benefit from our platform, which is why we've launched this free service."

Soft launched just over a year ago, LightRocket has already emerged as one of the most comprehensive and best value online service platforms for photographers and visual artists. Meanwhile the company is continuing to expand its offering with the regular addition of major new features and add-on services.

For those who want to go to the next level, LightRocket's 'premium' members pay a little less than a dollar a week for their first year which gains them access to an even broader array of tools while offering greater visibility on LightRocket's consolidated media archive.

"There's already considerable value in our free membership plan but for a tiny additional investment we deepen and strengthen that value," explained LightRocket Co-Founder Yvan Cohen. "A premium LightRocket account gives users access not only to professional media management and file delivery tools but also to a global network of some 6,000 picture buyers."

Each week LightRocket pitches out its best galleries to selected picture buyers around the world and 100% of revenue generated by sales from the LightRocket platform goes back to its members. "We are just facilitators," added Co-Founder Cohen. "We want to help make that connection between the photographer and the client. We don't take commissions or charge service fees, so when there is a sale it goes straight to the photographer."

LightRocket has also inked a unique partnership with photography giant Getty Images, allowing premium members to apply to become LightRocket Getty contributors. For those accepted it's a chance to distribute their work on the world's most powerful digital media sales platform. "Our partnership with Getty is a clear validation of the quality and professionalism that LightRocket stands for. We are all about promoting and distributing inspirational photography, ensuring that our members can truly let their talent shine," said CEO Charlesworth.
