Liquid Scale, a highly polished, content-aware image resizing application for the Apple iPhone, is now available from the App Store. The program resizes pictures without deforming or cropping the content. Pictures can be transformed to a new aspect ratio in a fast and intuitive way. Plus the intelligent app automatically analyses the important area of an image and recognises the real motif as compared to the background. Liquid Scale 1.0: Image app for iPhone shows tricks when scaling

Savoy Software, the Berlin startup, presents Liquid Scale, an app for mobile image processing, which offers innovative opportunities for retouching while the operation remains extremely simple. The program makes it possible to scale images in any way without distorting or reducing the motif.  It is even possible to move two motifs closer together or remove individual persons out of the image.

Anybody knows the problem: Some images have too much background - and too little motif. Or they are available in portray while landscape is required. Or the images show the entire family with a stranger and one would prefer if the stranger could be removed by retouching.

And sometimes, one would just like to move two motifs closer together, which are too far apart in the image.

Savoy Software, the Berlin startup, has developed an app for the iPhone, which can solve all the problems listed above in a such a way that not only Photoshop experts can work with the app but also laymen and hobby photographers who use the iPhone camera for taking pictures.

Liquid Scale: Scale images without distorting the motif unnaturally

The result is called Liquid Scale and it is immediately available through the iTunes AppStore. The intelligent app automatically analyzes the important area of an image and recognizes the real motif as compared to the background.

The motif keeps its original size if the image is scaled in this manner. However, the less important areas of the image will be simply moved together. This changes reality to meet my requirements: With Liquid scale, image processing 2.0 has become reality - ironically by bending reality. The completely processed images can be saved on the iPhone with the quality levels “low”, “medium” and “high”.

“Finally, I can change images to my required sizes without affecting the proportions or reducing the real motif of the image too much. Those who have seen how simple image processing with Liquid Scale is want to improve all their images in this manner,” says Stephan Töpper, beta tester, who had the opportunity to test Liquid Scale from the beginning.

Liquid Scale provides “Content Aware Image Resizing”. The motif of an image can be strengthened without problems and dispensable background can be cut off. Two motifs in one image can be brought closer together by moving the image in between closer together.

Those who want it may not only rely on the intelligence of the software but can also act on their own. In this case it is possible to mark individual persons in the image with a finger to remove them in a targeted manner. No question: Anybody can now perform tricks with images.

Images processed by Liquid Scale can be stored in an album on the iPhone or they can be sent by e-mail. If desired the before and after views of the scaled images can be shown.
