Lomography Announces Stephen Kenny Exhibition in London

Lomography’s Basement Gallery East has announced an upcoming exhibition of works by Stephen Kenny. Kenny's recent series, “Last Night I Sang Karaoke with Bill Murray” centres on the idea of a fantasy lifestyle. The first print of the collection was inspired by a real-life event, which is featured in the series, and spun off other fantasy activities such as playing a round of golf with Alice Cooper or baking cookies with Anna Wintour. The exhibition opens on 5 September 2013 at Lomography East London, 117 Commercial Street, London, E1 6BG.

LAST NIGHT I SANG KARAOKE WITH BILL MURRAY
STEPHEN KENNY
5 September 2013 – 30 September 2013
(London, UK) — Lomography’s Basement Gallery East is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition of works by Stephen Kenny. Kenny is a designer working using traditional letterpress printing methods and techniques to create modern graphic prints. Utilising his collection of woodblocks and letterpress type, he is inspired by Victorian posters, the French Surrealists of the 1920s, contemporary music and literature to design clever typographical posters.
His recent series, “Last Night I Sang Karaoke with Bill Murray” centres on the idea of a fantasy lifestyle. The first print of the collection was inspired by a (secret) real-life event, which is featured in the series, and spun off other fantasy activities such as playing a round of golf with Alice Cooper or baking cookies with Anna Wintour.
Kenny has worked on various book covers, record covers and branding jobs at the same time as producing his own posters, and his work can be purchased in the shops of the V&A, Design Museum, the National theatre, amongst others. He currently lives and works in London.
