Lomography Looks to the Analogue Future with 10 Prophecies

February 25, 2011 | Zoltan Arva-Toth | Competitions | Comment |

Building on the Ten Golden Rules of Lomography, the Lomographic Society has announced its Ten Prophecies for the Analogue Future. In line with the Society’s slogan, “The Future is Analogue”, the ten “prophecies” - some of which sound more like light-hearted advices to new and old Lomography fans - form the basis of a new Lomography competition / promotion.

Organised into two stages, the competition starts today by Lomography’s handing out posters and stickers printed with the Ten Prophecies in their Gallery Stores and online. Lomographers are asked to stick this poster to the most creative location they can think of and take an analogue photo to upload onto the Lomography website. Then, three lucky winners will be sent on a trip to the Lomography headquarters in Vienna.

The details of Stage Two are still to be announced, but the winner will apparently be sent on a trip around the world to visit every single Lomography Gallery Store that exists.

Something to Believe in

With The Ten Golden Rules of Lomography firmly set as the foundation for millions of Lomographers worldwide and showing no signs of slowing down, today Lomography announced a fresh manifesto: The Ten Prophecies for the Analogue Future.

Depicting the spirit of an inspired analogue future, the Ten Prophecies will be the new mantra of film photography for decades to come. To help spread these Ten Prophecies across the world, Lomography has published individual limited edition collectible posters and stickers preaching what we Lomographers practice!

The Future is Analogue

Say it loud and proud: We believe the future is analogue! And in order to prove this credo, we’re putting it to the test and analyzing it philosophically. The end result is ten fine prophecies that will go down as the essential manifesto of analogue photography. Have a look at the headlines:

No 1: Leave the digital grind behind

No 2: The return of luck, coincidence, contingency, chance, fortune, emergency & surprise

No 3: Expect the unexpected and the excitement of the experiment

No 4: Lomography will bring back overtones, nuances, smells, shades, dirt & dust and the beauty of real life

No 5: Film & paper ensure originality, authenticity and an everlasting presence

No 6: Look Twice

No 7: Let loose with Lomography

No 8: The Avant-garde is Analogue

No 9: A bazillion fresh analogue tunes await us

No 10: The analogue future is the home of a holy lot of love, joy, fun, sex and… paradise!
