London Photo Festival - ‘Your London’

January 25, 2012 | Zoltan Arva-Toth | Comment |

The second London Photo Festival will be held from 16th - 19th May in The Crypt, Borough High St, London SE1 1JA. This year, organisers have developed ‘ImageInfo’ using QR codes to allow visitors access to the image information and biography of the photographer, and hope that this will help enable the sales of exhibited works. Entry is free for the public and the Festival will be open from 10am on all three days and will remain open late on Friday’s ‘Click ‘n Clique’ evening when the public are invited to come and meet the photographers behind the works. To tie in with the Jubilee and the Olympics the theme will be ‘Your London’. Organisers will be looking for creative, personal images as opposed to standard shots of the capital. Exhibitors do not need to live in London (or even the UK). Further details for visitors and exhibitors can be found at the website below.

London Photo Festival Press Release

London Photo Festival - ‘Your London’
16th - 19th May 2012
The Crypt, Borough High St, London SE1 1JA

The second London Photo Festival will be held from 16th - 19th May in The Crypt (opposite Borough underground station) offering amateur, enthusiast and semi-professional photographers an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work while also gaining valuable professional feedback.

This year, organisers have developed ‘ImageInfo™’ using QR codes to allow visitors access to the image information and biography of the photographer (as submitted via their entry form), and hope that this will help enable the sales of exhibited works. Printed copies will also be available to view at the Festival.

Entry is free for the public and the Festival will be open from 10am on all three days and will remain open late on Friday’s ‘Click ‘n Clique’ evening when the public are invited to come and meet the photographers behind the works, or just network with other photographers. As before, all visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favourite work in the hotly contested ‘f/factor™’ competition.

Spaces at the Festival have doubled by popular demand to 60 exhibitors. To tie in with the Jubilee and the Olympics the theme will be ‘Your London’. Organisers will be looking for creative, personal images as opposed to standard shots of the capital. Exhibitors do not need to live in London (or even the UK) but all photographs MUST be taken in London.

A special Guest of Honour will be judging the ‘Best in Show’ competition at the Private View on Wednesday evening, selecting a winner and two runners up from the exhibition and awarding the lucky winners fabulous prizes. Supporter, Frui, will be offering pre-booked portfolio reviews for any budding photographers on the Saturday.

British reportage photographer, Giles Duley, will be speaking at ‘Photo Talk’ on Thursday about his experiences and how as a triple amputee he plans to return to photograph the medical treatment of civilian victims in Afghanistan. Tickets are available from the website, where you will also find information on other speakers as they are announced.

Founders and organisers, Abitoffthemapp Photography and HCK Photography, were absolutely delighted by the positive response from visitors and exhibitors alike to the inaugural festival held in October 2011 and are working on plans to expand into other venues across the UK.

The Crypt is opposite Borough station, underneath St George the Martyr Church, and is only five minutes walk from London Bridge station and the world famous Borough Market. Further details for visitors and exhibitors can be found at www.londonphotofestival.org as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
