‘Love in London’ – Charity Photography competition seeks to unite the capital

14th February - Launching today is ‘Love in London’ - an iconic photography competition celebrating unity and hope in the aftermath of a turbulent year. The aim is to inspire London with a wave of positivity and love, with the winning photos being displayed across the capital on digital adverts, including billboards and bus stop signs.

For many, 2017 was a difficult year, with tragic events, political upheaval and scandals shaking institutions worldwide. London has had its fair share of dramatic events to contend with, but its residents faced these challenges with inspiring displays of unity, resilience and solidarity.

So, to celebrate the best that London has to offer in 2018 – CLiKD; an award-winning dating app aimed at the creative community, has launched a new photography competition inviting people to submit photographs which showcase what Love means to them in the capital. The aim is to unite differences and inspire the city, as well as raising funds for award winning charity PhotoVoice, whose mission is to support social change and give people a voice through photography.

Acclaimed photographers Kim Leuenberger and Jackie King will judge across the 6 categories which include Love in the Community and Love What You Do, with other judges to be announced. The winning photo series will feature on digital signs across London tube stations and bus stops - an opportunity to display optimism and positivity for millions to see on their daily commute. There has been an outpouring of support for the campaign already, with many London companies - including the acclaimed photographic printer Metro providing prizes; everything from camera equipment to gallery space.

PhotoVoice CEO Tom Elkins said:

I’m absolutely delighted to be involved with the Love in London competition. PhotoVoice’s charitable work helps people use photography to tell their side of the story and we’ve always been inspired by the images that people have created in our projects. Now, we are excited to see what people choose to submit to this competition which will celebrate what makes London such a wonderful city to live, visit and work in.”

As well as inviting images from anybody who has a story to tell about London, the competition will also showcase the work of celebrated photographers who will be sharing their perspectives of Love in London. Photographers include Laura Pannack and Peter Dench, with further contributions to be announced.

Entry for the competition is free, but a £2 donation per image entered is strongly encouraged to support PhotoVoice’s projects worldwide. All donations will be given directly to PhotoVoice.
