Lumera Launches

Lumera is a new device which connects your camera to your smartphone via Wi-Fi and BLE allowing you to back up and share your photographs wirelessly, without taking the phone out of your pocket. This novel accessory communicates with the camera via USB and attaches to the tripod socket, so after the initial setup you can pretty much forget about it while shooting. Additionally, the accompanying Android/iOS app enables you to wirelessly capture photos & videos, remotely view and edit camera parameters like shutter speed, ISO, focus and zoom area, white balance, drive mode, aperture, image quality etc., wirelessly stream the camera's live iew feed to your iOS or Android device, geotag your photos and more. Lumera is available for pre-order through Kickstarter from $125.
Lumera Press Release
Montreal, October 29, 2014. Lumera Labs has just released Lumera on Kickstarter, a new device that transforms cameras into the smartest ones (lumera.co/ks). Today’s manufacturers create amazing DSLR and mirrorless cameras with really big sensors and stunning lenses, which give users high quality images, but most of them don't provide a connection to the cloud. On the other side, phone manufacturers create amazing devices completely immersed in the cloud but with poor optics giving users low quality images.
Lumera is closing this gap by connecting cameras to the cloud using phones, through WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Lumera is the first device that allows users to one-click share photos from camera and make backups on the go without taking phone out of the pocket. This is accomplished by pre-configuring preferred social networks (like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) with phone and with the help of its friendly OLED display and contextual buttons. This also allows users to control sharing process and visualize status.
Lumera adapts to most popular cameras like Canon and Nikon*. It communicates with cameras through USB connection and will not affect users experience because it'll be attached to the camera body with a tripod thumb screw. It also allows easy connection to cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive and physical storage devices like flash drives or external hard disks.
Lumera team is inviting developers and hackers to build a new ecosystem on top of the camera-phone synergy. that’s why Lumera is Linux OS based and will be open source and open hardware.
Lumera is available through Kickstarter from USD $125. Pre-orders will continue throughout the Kickstarter campaign which ends on Tuesday, December 9. Visit the campaign at lumera.co/ks
